I am unable to access EQ (for the last 2 or 3 days) due to the fact that my EQgame.exe generates an error every time I get past the choose a server screen has anyone had this problem/can anyone offer advice on how to fix this? EQ tech support has, naturally, been unavailable the last few timess i have contacted them. Can i just delete the .exe and hope it will re-install it at the patch screen, or will this disable the entire game, login included? thanks geig

hmm so.. I hoped it might be something like this....a corrupted game exe wont stuff up my ability to repatch through everquest.exe, so EQgame.exe and EverQuest.exe are the game engine and the patcher login respectively? will try this later tonight thanks

virii hope it isnt virus, EQ is the only game/program i have had issues with, and then only EQgame.exe not the everquest.exe? Will have a thorough scan to be sure, hadnt even thought about virii as the cause

definitely a virus. My friend had this ravage his system the other day (forget the name, sorry). At first we thought it was the LoY expansion because it only affected EQ, but then we realized that 99% of the time on his computer is on EQ, so eventually the rest of his .exe's got infected too.

I had this same virus myself, just download the shareware version of any of the popular virus scanners and it will pick it up quick like. This is a fairly common problem evidenced by the way it is mentioned on the FAQ page at everquest.com.

)Well more seriously if you are DLing all your EQ exe files each time you launch the EQ patcher, it is a virus (which attacks any exe prog launched). This happened to me once. The problem was, I had to format my HDD since half of my exe files were corrupted and I couldn't recover them, so had to reinstall OS and programs ... | |

CIH used to do that. Anyway chances are if it is a virus and it attaches to every exe things like explorer will be unrepairable while booted. You could use a dos based virus scanner provided the drive isnt NTFS. And if it is NTFS create a seperate partition for a new OS and try from there? or just format, of course, But uh, why not just try to reinstall EQ first?

the last thing i want to do is reinstall EQ...i am on dial up and dont want to think about how long it will take me to patch the last 3 years worth of patches given that downloading 5 meg worth of MPEGs takes me about an hour and a half... ![]() Edit: haha and if i have to format my HDD i am gonna be pissed because my OS is a pirate copy and i dont have the disks anymore Last edited by geigs : 03-12-2003 at 04:36 PM.
