So... Plane of Time is close

From the screenshots i've seen, potimea and potimeb look totally bizarre and unlike anything before in EQ. For those who haven't seen the shots or don't know, PoTA is a circular zone split into 5 different sections by rivers that all meet in the center, which is where the giant "clock" is. It's on top of a large "island" not unlike one from the original PoA. Each of the 5 sections has a square chamber, completely featureless, that is connected to the outer border.

PoTB is quite different. What appears to be a "trial area" has the same look as Tactics, a square room with 4 different areas and various gods' pictures on the walls. There is a first and second level to this "trial" area. This isn't the only part of the zone though, there is also a giant maze which I can only explain as being like a giant tree-chart, when viewed from above. One main gateway splits into 3, and each of those gateways splits into another 2. At the end is an arena. The final part of PoTB is what can only be describe as a giant enclosed cave, presumably where The Nameless, or Veeshan, or Uber_Mob_03 resides.

Now assuming Plane of Time A and B are actually completed already (yea I know, a stretch for Sony), what sort of things do you expect to see? Are the uber guilds who make it to Plane of Time going to be thrown up against 4 gods at once? Or perhaps they will fight amongst themselves for some weirdass reason and the players will get to choose sides in a one time epic battle ala Sleeper's Tomb. Given the difficulty of Elemental zones and bosses, I imagine Plane of Time to be insane - in difficulty and in loot. Who knows what the boss of these zones contains... I'm surely eager to see.

Discuss.

Boring topic, but I'll say one thing.

I imagine once PoTime is "beaten", it will be beaten for good. Kinda like releasing the Sleeper. Once done, it's done.

But who knows.

I would say that not even SoE is that stupid to repeat the fuck up that was, but we're talking about SoE here. Reminds me of the simpsons episode were Lisa hooked up a eletrical cord to a cupcake and bart kept shocking himself over and over trying to eat it.

hmmm

I foresee a series of hefty ring type events that play out different phases in Norrath's history.

I foresee the ring events being a mix of a) race against the clock and b) lengthy drawn out battles, with the entire event not doable in one sitting.

I foresee the use of character flags being critical to this, in that once you complete a particular time era, you get a flag that allows you to pick up at the successive time era.

I forsee a monstrous set of fuckups that occurs probably half-way into these tiered ring events.

I foresee these fuckups completely screwing up the character flags that were earned since the beginning of the entire PoT event.

I also foresee significant problems with trying to bring along guildmembers who do not have character flags earned in previous eras of the event, even though SOE has stated that such a thing is possible.

I foresee Furor setting a new world's record for blood pressure in a living human being.

I foresee Furor breaking out pictures of Gallagher once again.

I foresee the use of capslock and profanity, the likes of which has never been witnessed.

And I forsee Thott referring to these problems in his posts as "difficult, but we're always up for a challenge."...before climbing to the roof of a nearby clocktower with a high powered rifle.

Either all of that, or it will be cool and work nicely.

At several Fan Faires people have brought up the idea of "world-changing content" that impacted the world for the better, instead of the Sleeper, which most people thought of as worse.

My guess is, once PoTime is beaten, flags won't be necessary for planar access.

Think about it... it's just gay enough to be right.

PoP is after all the first narrative expansion. We go through content in an almost linear fashion along with a story being told. A huge quest (I think that might even be written on the box :P ).

So the end of the expansion must also be the end of the story. A climax in difficulty, in reward, in action but also in narration.

I really expect PoTb to be one huge event with gods coming and going, last min surprises and revelations, things of that nature.

Will it be well balanced? Playable? Entertaining? Rewarding? Working as intended? I hope so... but I temper my hopes with a not so brilliant track record when it comes to ambitious things :P

I foresee an unfinished dungeon.
I foresee broken event triggers
I foresee working events that yield broken loot either too good or too shitty(more than likley too shitty)
I foresee things staying this way for months becuase The Team is already working on a new expansion and cant be bothered other than to make sure the "too good" events are broken into retardation.

To the guilds who get into plane of time, DO NOT REPORT the easy shit. even if the bosses are as hard as a moss snake report that its the hardest encounter youve ever seen. They will nerf it and then you can farm elements for another 3 months while they "retune".

Dev 1: Let's check the FoH message board
Dev 2: Ring events, blowable spawns, fucked up flags?
Dev 1: They want it, they got it!
Dev 2: Put Cazic in there, yo!
Dev 1: Cazic rules!

I foresee a Who the fuck cares

I foresee unbeatable mobs barring content until weeks later when SOE finishes the rest of the zone and a patch renders them poosae status. I foresee 9/10 uber guilds beat said mobs with the same identical strats the following week.

I foresee this thread taking a ride on the short bus

I foresee necromancers being called upon to save raids, on a scale unprecedented since those fuckers at Sony/Verant decided to give us twitch.

I foresee stock in Malox, Tums, Pepto, and Tagamet sky-rocketing due to raid stress and the fucked-upedness of PoTime being incomplete, and because of my prophecy, FoH invests heavily, making billions of dollars, buys Sony, and has all the Lead Programmers and designers castrated with clothes hangers before being mauled to death by herds of rabid lemmings.

I foresee Hitler comming back to life, with the sole purpose of stealing the potatoes from all the Irish of the world, resulting in him marrying Saddam Hussein and giving birth to the kid from the Munsters.

But then again, I thought I made a mistake once...but I was wrong.
