| I remember either Abashi or Absor explicitly saying that it was to prevent the competition from seeing their numbers. As already mentioned, it was probably intended entirely with the players in mind. Some squirrely idiots playing the game probably would bail just because a new MMORPG comes out and EQ's population drops for just a few days. I don't blame Sony.

| rhaal nailed it. Cause perception counts, and yes, if players started seeing low server counts, they might think the action is elsewhere, and go check out a new game. That verant fed the bs story "its to protect us against competitors seeing our numbers" pissed me off. It was all about denying their consumers information about their product. And in my impression, I think server counts are down, not up, once one deducts bazaar bots. sadre |
