| Ghost Recon & Expansions was some of the better games i've played on my PC. Great strategic squad based first person action. I loved every mission. Although when you got a sniper maxed out, he was basically god. It took about 2 hours to get the controls down (And I almost took it back in disgust) but when you figure it all out, its really quite slick. I tried multiplayer but when someone on a modem connected to the game, EVERYONE slowed down to the modem speed, so multiplayer was pretty worthless. Single player owned tho! |

| you can edit every unit with the editor in CIV3 and there is an option to make units (like bombers) be able to do leathal bombards. but i agree the idea of only having airplanes make airmissions was a bad move. |

So, why bother? An editor is there to allow you to customize the game fully: their editor is severely hampered by an overwhelming lack of options. | |

+16 Internets | Isn't Ghost Recon the game where you save, run around until you get shot to know where the enemy is and then reload to go snipe him? That being the only way to win since it's impossible to spot the enemies? I have never played it myself but a friend of mine (who plays to all these tactical thingies) made me that pretty grim description. In the genre, the most fun I ever had is playing Operation Flashpoint in lan with 6 or 7 people. Cooperative of course It's ugly and bugged to death, but its use of space is unique and it's so hard and unfair that even a minor success brings a lot of joy. "3 o'clock, 500, T72!", "Oh no! 3 is down!", "Hit the dirt!"... geez we played it too much :P

| You can do that if you dont take the time to sneak around. If you try and run through the game like any other FPS you're going to get gunned down before you see what's shooting you. Otherwise if you're smart and set your guys up properly and take your time, you can spot everything before it attacks unless the mission purposely puts units in during a sequence. Your friend is just an impatiant player is all. ![]() As for multiplayer, I prefer America's Army over Counterstrike for squad based missions. Never spent so much time playing one of these compared to AA. Rules. |

+38 Internets | Operation Flashpoint was incredible I thought, although way the hell to difficult in SP (who's idea was it to limit you to one fucking save in a game where missions can take an hour, and one shot from a russian sniper from 300 yards can well kill you?). Never played it MP at all though. I thought the graphics were quite good really, perfect for what the game needed, large outdoors. Some of the SP missions were so incredible, like the one where you escape into the forrest after the first island is over run, then you have to try to trek all the way across the island (about 10km) full of Russians to an evac point, with Russians hunting you. The forrest you start off in is such a good place for them to be chasing you, those fuckers were smart and constantly ducked and weaved around trees. I am looking forward to whatever that dev team cranks out next. And as for the combat in CivIII being "whacked", well yeah. But that's how it's always been, since the very first, and for balance reasons it's kind of understandable. And personally I liked the changes to airplanes and ships and artillery, I thought they were too powerful versus ground units in the first games. |
