| Rant: GM Events Blow I went to a GM event. I did ALL the work. I did all the damage on all the mobs. Out of the dozens of corpses I looted 1 item. The GM awarded PoS items, atleast PoS to me, and gives 1 person an extra item. The lowest level, who went linkdead 4 times, and did no damage. Afterwards I get off and go eat. I come back on, my 1 item has vanished. I asked a gm. He said I ninja looted it and never rolled therefore she removed it from my inventory. I wasn't even on when they rolled, I wasn't even ASKED to roll. Not to mention I came out of the event with 1 item (and the generic award item everyone got) while everyone took home a ton of items, jewels, and pp. The GMs response why the link dead person got an extra item... "Perhaps the halfling (gm) had a profound liking for female dark elfs." The GM said how they dont like people who go to events for loot and that people at events usually do need before greed. The only item I had a need for I took. Everyone else got tons of items they had a NEED for. Everyone else had a need for the rewarded item, except me. I had a need for the extra item the gm awarded to the queen of link dead because they jack off to dark elves. For future refrence if anyone is a gm. A. Events where you are supposed to go to point A and kill mob Y are NOT FUN. B. You shouldn't award items to player models you jack off too. C. You should award items to people who actually do the work (or all the work in my case). D. GMs are complete assholes who are dense. edit: To top it off the GM told me to read the play nice policies. The person they rewarded an extra item to breaks the naming policy. Last edited by Your Hero : 01-18-2003 at 08:46 PM. |

+16 Internets | The only events I cared about were the storyline ones, even if they were lootless, but they've been extinct since luclin came out. I personally hate the "kill random shit for no good reason" events. There's no roleplaying and no point most of the time.

| lol. That necro is my new hero. And if you were the ONLY person killing anything...how much higher level were you than all the rest? =) a level 65 attending a level 20 GM event would be doing all the work.. and I thought GM events died back in SoV. |

| GM events have always blown. I'm amazed if I even see a GM on when I do /who all GM. More like GMs are extinct now let alone GM events.

| I always liked the storyline GM events like when NK and WK had a plague and the events when they change entire zones like during Halloween. In my opinion, they do far too few GM events anymore. I thought the idea of being able to obtain a title or antique was very cool. To my knowledge, there are only like 2-3 antique items per server and titles are very, very few and mostly just the ones awarded to those in the BotB. *shrug* Some people like grinding for exp, some like doing tradeskills and some look forward to the GM events. I liked this game a hell of a lot better when there was an actual storyline, and that seems to have gone extinct since before SoL. Instead you get to read a story on their webpage which doesn't make much sense... |

+15 Internets | What a lame fucking topic GM Events suck for one reason and one reason only, and I can tell you it's NOT THE FUCKING GMS. They suck because of people. Every single fucking time I have attended a GM event, what happens at the end of it? 5000 shouts asking about loot and whether the GM is going to give lvl 12 dickless newbie something for his trouble or level 60 dickless newbie something for his trouble. No matter what a GM does, this will happen. As long as this can continue happening, events will continue sucking. Perfect example of this was our last and greatest GM, Saiphos. The guy would go out of his way to do GM events. Veeshan literally felt like Legends. He was throwing GM events 2-3 times per week. I hated attending them, though, cause everytime I did, guess what happened? Some dickless shitstain would start in with the 'WHAT DO I GET OUT OF THIS?' bullshit. I felt embarassed to attend - for him and for others with a sense of fucking decency. I'll never understand how the guy put up with it week after week. It's no wonder he got a promotion. I've said it a thousand times and I'll say it again, the players worst fucking nightmare would be me as a GM. The amount of unressed death touches that would go down per day would reach six digits. I swear to Christ mother fuckers would fear for their lives hitting that /petition and asking for an escalatioin. Anyways, I'm rambling - in short, this topic sucks and the post sucks. GM events can't be decent because people are inherently immoral cocksuckers. Got it? |

+4 Internets | agree in most part. some events are for lore and most events you will not get anything good. so if you go to an event its rare that you will get something real good. you go for the fun of it. as long as i get my milk and cookies from the GM i am happy. only time I would freak is if it was a GM event for lvl 65's and it lasted all week end and you had to kill Fenin Ro caliber mobs and the reward was a bag of evil eyes. other then that its all about the fun. and thats only because they shouldnt give out gay loot, your reward is the event itself. I wish there where more events. only events I see are ones that cross over to the zone im in and I start geting tells not to ruin the event. im like "Dude im just working on fishing" *spray pains Furor pink and puts on large floppy ears and wiskers on him* BUNNY?!? is that you? *Tacklehugs Da Furorbunny on the ground and starts ticklewrestling him* you naughty bunny where have you been *snuggles with his cute Furorbunny*

| ok, on Tarew Marr there arn't many GM events. Been a few lately, but just tourament style ones. Melee only, no spells, yadda yadda. Well a while back I decided it would be fun to bring my level 30 twink (I wouldn't even call him that much, crap gear cept fungi) to one of these events. I was not the only warrior there with a fungi and a few centi LS. However, as the fight progressed it came down to 3 warriors. My self, one other with a fungi, and some random wood elf. The other warrior and the wood elf were running around. I sat down next to the GM in the middle of the arena square to regen the HP I had lost earlier as I knew the other fungi warrior would win and i'd need all the HP i could muster. Next thing I know I'm teleported out of the fighting area with no explication. I send a tell the GM, I was told that I had stepped out of the area square. I replied that I had been sitting right next to you, infact I even inspected you. Not 5min later the other fungi warrior is booted out for the same reason. He goes off in ooc bitching the GMs out. Then logs. I decided to look deeper into this whole deal... here is what I got. ![]() |

| Every event I've been to either ends up with 30 people dieing or the GMs do a half assed job of it and bugger off without finishing the storyline (even when no one has done something outside the story), then I get to read about what was actually supposed to happen from people on other servers. For the first 3 years I never managed to even be in the same zone as an event, then I saw a few and since then I try and just avoid them. |

| No one even remotely mentioned loot the entire event. I only asked the GM after the event where my earring was. You bitch about Risk vs Reward. I bitch about Work vs Reward. Sorry but when someone does all the work they dont deserve the shaft. And the person who does the least work doesnt deserve the icing on the cake. |
