Really does have that DAOC look to it. Where the shadows at? they on strike? It's like dynamic/non-environmental shadows are MIA.

Good call, I didn't even notice that.

What I did see what all the buildings remind me of Katta Castellum (sp?) from Luclin. Like, they're old - they're supposed to look old, but there's no signs of age. I can't even get any sense of atmosphere out of the screenshots, but omg yes it's in beta so we can't criticise.

From the screenshots alone I can tell it's gonna be an "ugrade2play!" game, and it'll still look shit. I can't really understand why games like Guild Wars which can be run on a $300 computer look really nice (sans overuse of bloom), but the mmorpgs which ask for a beast of a video card always *always* look like shit.

Oblivion environments looked properly aged and decayed to me when necessary, but I'm such a blatent fanboy take that with the grain of salt I eagerly provide.

Oblivion was a single player game. Take those kind of graphics and add them to a MMO, I think my computer would spontaniously combust.

Brad must have ate a lot of babies during the EQ era because we have some jaded motherfuckers on this board.

I actually *gasp* like the images. I think they are good for a mmorpg. However, I am not the type of person who watched the new star wars movies and nitpicked about every fucking detail that didn't hold true to the originals. Sure, the shadows seem non-existent and the NPC in the manor shot seems cut/pasted; but I think these two issues are related. I really like the look of the pheonix in the last shot.
