the net has lead to a complete butcherng of language which I find amusing. Its funny seeing what people let slide into their essays/etc from net-speek.

Friend of mine sent me an essay he was handing in for english for peer editing, and I pointed out alot of acronyms/netslang that he was using in it and not even realzing. Even somple things like using @, w/o (without), w/ (with), thnx, etc.

He felt like an ass when I pointed it out.

But, I do admit, I have let a few w/o's and w/'s slide into stuff I am handing into class.

The first time I heard the word "woot" was during the quake 2 era, and the first person I remember saying it was a guy named Rooster in a Rocket Arena 2 clan called Damage Incorporated... and yes, realizing I just remembered that does strike fear deep within my heart.

WTS Full Set of FS

WTB/T for DoTB or LoTH

WTB SoW

I was like WTF?

speaking of 40K

About this time last year or around I guess they finally released the new Tyranid Codex...

and all of a sudden all those Tyranid players who had armies that were lines and lines of termagaunts stacked in front of lines and lines of genestealers, stacked in turn of 2 hive tyrants, a Carnifex, and those big headed psychic things, Zenothropes or something akin to that, quit playing.

Why?

Because with the codex, it became imperative that a tyranid player have tactics other than "move forward, get into hand to hand, eat through opponent faster than rosie o'donnel at a hometown buffet."

Strangely enough, I think this would be the same shit that would happen to EQ if for some reason "Zerg Tactics" were taken away.

I hate them as well, I agree with Kreugen whole-heartedly on his post about how the game is boring for him because of the lack of challenge, but from a business standpoint, if Sony decides to put the challenge back in EQ? Shit, i'd say a good third, if not more of the people playing would quit out of sheer frustration.

It's part of the video game society - aka, Gameshark, aka, Game Genie, aka, Cheatplanet.com.......

Someone told me woot stands for wonderful loot. First time I heard it was in EQ though, so I don't know.

The sad thing is, acronyms like that got to be like a second language to me. I can read that just as easily as if it were all spelled out. I miss the good old days of EC lagging all to hell with 100+ peeps selling things and dueling to stave off boredom.

I know. EC was always such safe hunting because there where always people to buff you and derail trains. I remember high levels coming over to the Orc Camps to help the lowbies break the spawn. EC was the shit. DOWN WITH THE BAZAAR! UP WITH THE AUCTION TUNNEL!
