the item should be on par with low end tier 5 loot (which no one has seen), given that to get it you have to kill a tier 4 boss AND complete 3 fairly difficult quests

Heh. I'm sorry, that was really the only Quest -> Loot combo that has made me laugh THAT hard.

I mean... It's still funny. Seriously. I can't even imagine how twisted and/or clueless the inner workings of SoE have to be to add an item that useless to a quest that fooking hard AND requires an item off a tier 4 boss.

Still chuckleing.

Hmm, that things pretty close to an essence lens, which is a Velious toy. 2 expansions, a multipart quest and a major boss whacking later you'd like to think the PoP essence lens would be just a touch better... Hope it gets an upgrade.
