Strike of Soulsek is 576 mana with Mana Preservation IV. Even in the perfect XP group with an enchanter and bard, your mana regen per tick is: 1 Innate 1 Sitting 2.5 Harvest 3 Mental Clarity 24 Meditation 18 Voice of Quellious 21 Chorus of Marr 15 Flowing Thought 85.5 mana/tick. That lets you cast Strike of Soulsek once every 40.42 seconds. With Fury of Magic Mastery III it'll do 3261 damage per cast. That's 81 DPS. 81 DPS with ZERO resists. You mean to tell me that a rogue, monk, ranger, or even warrior with halfway decent gear and 115% haste can't break 81 DPS? This is a long term XP group, your initial mana pool does not matter. Hell, a shaman who wants to and uses the Canni/Torpor engine to regenerate mana will outdamage a wizard. Without summoning a pet.

| since you did not include focus items / right click nuke items into your calculation, your gear must truly suck. sorry to say that. btw Melee haste cap is not 115. Last edited by Hinterdir <SolRo> : 01-17-2003 at 02:06 AM. |

9 Spiritual Dominion 5 Koadic's Heightened Focus Also you forgot to mention Spell Casting Mastery, if CH mana cost gets dropped by spec200 and SCM3 to 316 ( about 20 percent savings) your example 640 mana for Strike of Solusek would get reduced to 512 mana. Preservation of the Akheva Focus 18 percent manacost reduction > Mana Preservation IV 10 percent manacost reduction Wrath of Ro Focus increase firebased Spell Damage by 35%

| - Spiritual Dominion assumes you have a beastlord as well. This is an XP group, so having bard/enchanter/beastlord really isn't likely. - I did include spell casting mastery (SCM III + FoMM III = 19% chance to critical) - Yeah, I forgot Heightened Focus....bleh - A player with a Wrath of Ro item is probably not going to be XP grinding all that often, so that's really not something that counts. So, even with all this it puts the wizard in the 100 DPS range assuming ZERO resists, which doesn't happen. Still not more than melees. Enchanter + Bard hasted rogues with 16 damage pokers do what? 200 DPS?

Spell Casting Mastery reduces the spell manacost, while Spell Casting Fury makes you crit more and higher. Spell Casting Mastery stacks with Specialization and focus items with manapreservation effects.

| Considering Xeq also missed Allegiant Familiar (8 per tick), any focus items of any sort (either mana prev or damage), Spell Casting Mastery (15% mana savings), Harvest of Druzzil, etc. We can safely say he has no clue what he's talking about I'll let Frozboz post his logs if he wants, this is his board afterall. The idea wasn't to do dick wagging, if anything no one thought wizards did as well over time as we actually found out. A topend wizard is basically equivalent in an xp group to a top end rogue or ranger, swapping spots depending on situations. In PoP zones (mostly outdoors) it's more common that Agro is the limiting factor than mana regen. Mages in many situations are even more powerful, depending on pet utility.Viewing that, I have no issue with monks getting a badass weapon (the whole concept of this thread) since it doesn't challenge me at all - plus class balance whining is retarded to the max (and I play a class that whines more with less reason than anyone). Casters are in great shape, give the monks their weapons. Last edited by Velael : 01-17-2003 at 07:04 AM. |
