am i still there?

Long time fan here, first post...

I got a quick question for anyone who can help. I quit EQ back when Kunark first came out with a lvl 50 SK. Recently, I bought the EQ Trilogy because I got bored going out every night and meeting new people. Anyway, when I installed the expansions, I did not have my original character anymore. I've heard some rumors that they wipe players after a year, and some that they have never wiped players. Is there anyway to get my old character back? Do I have to somehow install EQ with the original CD I used way back in 1999 when I bought the game for the first time? Any help would be much appreciated!

and

and there in lies your problem...

YOU have a NEW account with a new station name and password.

not your OLD account with your orginal password and station name

your character is still there, but on your old account

Don't laugh at my misfortune! So seriously there is no way to get that account back? I'm sure if I just call Verant customer service they will tell me the old password and stuff. Man tough break...

If you were the original account holder and you still have the credit card used to buy it, "Customer Service" will be able to get your original account info if you tell them you want to sign up again with the same CC# that you will have to provide.

Help.

I believe all you need is your CD Key & e-mail to get your login/pass back.

Check out EverQuestLive.com.

Good Luck.

I remember on Ultima Online if you'd been playing long enough to be considered a Veteran (like a year or something) then your characters would be saved for around 6 months if you decided to quit, incase you came back, then they got deleted.

Dont know if EQ does the same thing, but its possible. Would take a hell of a lot of space to save every character of every person who ever quit the game lol.

You have to remember that your character is simply a bunch of numbers in a MySQL database. A couple gigs of harddrive space could store millions of characters easily.

I'm sure their staff, server upkeep, and bandwidth costs far exceed storage costs, in that order most likely.

Well the good news, thanks to your help, is that I actually got the account back. I used the online chat with a CS rep, and it was actually pretty painless. All I needed was my credit card from 3 years ago, which luckily I had cancelled but kept the card.

However my problems aren't over! Now I have to figure out how to change my Velious and Luclin expansions to this account and not the other account I accidentally created.

And after playing for a while last night, a lvl 50 SK with 3 year old gear isn't that good lol. Still wearing darkforge armor! My unbuffed HP is about 1800!

I don't believe that is possible.
