| yeah Zerk probably refers to Starcrat. Where a perticular race used massive amounts of troops to fuck up there opponents with no skill at all. The term Zerg honors this race.... Or at least thats what I always thought.... |

+24 Internets | Yeah, one of the three races/teams was zerg, low cost footsoldiers, 'zerglings' could be used early in game or against large squads of dragoons or other single hit projectile/melee enemies.... err.... Lots of them in a usually shitty strategy but it worked sometimes /shrug |

| Sometimes I wish people wouldnt call gimp EQ tactics like throwing bodies around "zerg". It did require lots skill to play zerg against other good people. Not the Zerg's fault that EQ's AI can't handle a mass of troops being thrown at it. ![]() |

| A quick description of the Zerg race of Starcraft: http://www.battle.net/scc/zerg/ For a better understanding, check out the units, specifically the Zergling ( http://www.battle.net/scc/zerg/units/zergling.shtml ) |

+16 Internets | Rofl there are people who havent played SC? ;( Anyways, the term zerg was used primarily because in non-high skill player games, zerg won through sheer brute force and minimal micro management. Provided you had enough hatches and resources, zerg could replentish their attack forces extremely quickly. While hydras were the most effective, making about 60 3:3 cracklings and just sending them to an enemy base was usually effective too. Since they were easy to make in large amounts fast, the zerg player could just send endless waves of cracklings until whatever he wanted dead finally gave out under the waves of attackers. And yes, Zerg is German. It's next to the word Fubar.

God what a great fucking game, too bad I am not near a Games Workshop store anymore... I really miss playing 40k and even more fixing up freaky ass mutants and demons for my chaos army. And Genestealers were actually the good units, the termagants were the ones that were usually sent in large swarms to get shot up so the Genestealers could get close. But Tyranids were definately the "Zerg" force for all the serious players all the comedians used orcs so they could accidently blow up their own shit and paint cusswords on the side of the vehicles.... ahh those were the days

| I love Warhammer 40k. Such a great game. Had I never started playing wh 40k I probably never would've started EQ. I play Eldar (Biel-Tan: The Swordwind) and the first army that really ever owned me was Tyranids. When my opponent deployed and I realized I was outnumbered like 3 to 1 I knew it was going to be a rough battle. Came down to my Wraithlord vs. Carnifex and Hive Tyrant (both had 2 wounds) and I thought I had a chance but as soon as the Carnifax assualted I was up shit creak w/o a paddle.

| lets see, chart the development. The transition is a bit muddy, because I moved across MUDs a lot before EQ. I never encountered the w00t form until then... wow >> woo >> woo woo >> woot >> w00t >> ??? Last edited by Iannis : 01-18-2003 at 02:04 AM. |

| Zerg past patch 1.03 was nowhere even remotely overpowered. Try making a firebat next time, huh? Or a couple of 1-0 zealots? Get a fucking grip and don't talk about shit you have no clue about. This is like a fucking lvl10 talking about strats on how to kill Rallos Zek. --- Hunter Hasublood |
