| VT and the Elemental Planes Since there are relatively few guilds in the elemental planes right now, and they're the top guilds of their respective servers, I'd assume that they've all been farming VT for some time. But for those of you familiar with Tier 4, how necessary do you think VT gear is in being able to acheive that level in PoP? Could a guild make it to and beat Rallos with zero VT/Emp loot? If they did, could they get anywhere in Tier 4? Or is gearing up in VT a virtual prerequisite for getting anywhere in high-end PoP? |

| Hmm. I suppose it's possible for a guild with the type of equipment you suggest to kill Rallos, and move in to the elemental planes. However, I doubt it. Hps , saves, mana pools all need to be at certain levels for encounters to be doable. Tactics/cohesion is always the #1 factor in a successful guild, but someone wearing warlords is just going to be chewed up. I realize my example is a bit extreme, but I really wouldn't suggest trying to skip the stepping stones SSRA/VT are. | Usually gears > magelo, and < in reality's tier 4 raiding. Technically it would be possible, in reality no, gears usually represent the motivation you have as a player, if you lack motivation your gear suck, and if you lack motivation flags / RZ / tier 4 content > you for example. If you removed all VT / EMP loot from any player in the guilds that killed RZ today, would he still be dead? Of course. spells / aa skills and the 5 extra levels does a shitload more than "emp" or VT loot Chopsewy Prophet of Darkwind |

| you might have a hard time to outfit your caster with FT/focus effects and melees with venegance if you skip VT. especialy FT will be a problem since pop has like no FT(yes i know some are there) items. and loot per time is bigger in VT for upcoming guilds then they could ever hope of in pop. |

| I dont think the gear makes that much of a diffarence really. Most PoP encounters have taken my guild, which has 0 aten loot and very very little VT loot, less attempts then a guild thats been farming aten on server up for months on end (grats euros!). It helps i'm sure, but I wouldn't say something is totaly not doable without it. |

| And you should know that the guild he is referring to has had a big bonus to being able to try the stuff (not to mention blowing trials just to blow them etc) that spawns on server up in PoP, before they added some random timers, therefore having chances to learn the encounter and keep the other two guilds from doing them. So hugs, STFU, and all that fun stuff. |

Since you feel the need to attempt to derail the thread, I will however take a moment to say that we never blew any triggers unless by blowing them you mean we lost the fight (omgz we didn't win on the first tries when PoP was new, damn we must suck)? Of course what you're referring to is intentionally blowing them and perhaps you should look to yourself and the ring for the answers to that one. | |

| I don't really know melee loot that well, but as far as FT stuff goes, there's actually a lot outside VT: Slime boots, 8th shawl, Crown of the Victor, Bile robe, etc. It's possible to get over FT 10 without even ever going to a raid. VT is still the place to go for preservation and spell haste foci, though, and those are definitely a major boost for casters. It's a bit sad that Fu feels the need to drag their sever-specific whines onto this forum, where no-one else could give a damn. |

| Gear is a big deal. (To get back on track) It can be the difference of doing a raid comfortably with 45ppl or having a hard time with 90+. Been watching some of the not-so-well-equipped guilds throw 90+ ppl at some of the bigger events for a while now. Anything with a reasonable amount of difficulty and they're running into a brick wall. RZ with little or no VT/Ssra gear? Doable...just double your usual raid force and you might be able to put enough arrows into him. I don't know about anyone else but a guild with 100+ members to split the very few drops any of the gods in PoP has would be a fuckin joke. So you decide. VT/Ssra for a few months...or increase your guildsize to exponential proportions and even that's not a guarantee with some of the AE's you'll be seeing in the Elementals. I R |
