Who the fuck are you "I R Insane"? What reason do I have to believe that you've even been in the Plane of Water? None. 55+ people having framerate problems mostly on fairly good computers = shitty zone design. I doubt you've ever been deep in the zone with that many people, if in there ever at all. 55+ people all having horrible framerate problems is not due to some buff, or setting. If you've been down there, you can see why we've had those problems. The zone was horribly put together by someone who had no clue what the hell they were doing.

Edit: As to why it does it - It renders in every single direction around you (Up, down, left, right, in front of, behind, ect) like a giant 3D box and as said before, ignores the clip plane. Their umbra code has never worked, or worked "properly" anyways. And that's compounded with the issues of how horribly the zone is built.

And yes, I know how to optimize my all my settings, ect to make EQ run what can be considered as "well". And it still runs like crap for how awful it looks. Thats what happens when you use 5 year old code and have assclowns building zones.

I have been everywhere in the zone, yes including the boss area. With raid force of 50+ people and by myself with SoS. I have zero problems with FPS, while others in my guild do have the problems you describe.

Sean, I am curious if you have umbra on. No one has answered me yet. I would be very interested if you are, because you have a p4. I am curious if p4 + umbra fixes the problem.

Everything doesn't have to be a dick waving issue, or have to include insults here. I am really trying to help. I do agree though, the zone is a piece of poo, no one, no matter if you are running amd , intel, umbra, new models etc.. should have to deal with these problems.

Umbra is on by default even if you don't have it in the eqclient.ini file. And yes, I've tried "forcing" it on with that command line, does jack shit. Their code for it has never, ever worked right.

P.S. Has nothing to do with "dick waving". I am ANNOYED that these amatures are allowed to build zones when they have no idea how to work with their horribly outdated code. Of course, all the people that did know how now work for other companies.

Hell, they haven't even been able to get Fog to work right on a lot of configurations since Luclin.

*Every bug has its story. This one begins as an incompatibility between EverQuest, AMD processors and Umbra (a technology that, ironically, speeds up framerates). There is a known problem in the Umbra engine that was causing the crashes that some AMD users were originally seeing in Shadowhaven. In our desire to make sure that both Intel and AMD users could enter the game, we introduced another condition that unfortunately slowed down framerates in certain circumstances. We have one person working on nothing but this at the moment and he's made significant progress. We expect this problem to go away soon.

Sounds like this was never fixed. In any case I wouldn't try using it with an AMD, and I would toggle it on or off if you have a Pentium and are having bad framerate.

It's not just "me", it's my entire guild + various others who have been deep in water (with the exception of a handful of people who seem to have no problems). How the hell can you say it's working for "100% of the rest of EQ" when most of the people in there are having problems, retard?
