| 11 Conquest Suspended apparently for connecting to login2.989studios.com to connect as described here by GM Admin. http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/e...ML/034347.html GM's up to their usual tricks. |

| You don't even have to edit a single EQ file to do this. start-run and type echo 64.37.148.25 eqlogin1.989studios.com >> g:\win\system32\drivers\etc\hosts or run that from a command prompt and it will re-direct you to the other login server |

| re /shrug There's been 3 login servers for quite a while now. Tech support pointed me to them when I couldent logon so been using it for about a year now. But ever since Conquest came back in name, GMs watching us like fucking hawks looking for reasons to suspend. Hilarious since several of my friends were in cross server channels with me and didnt hear a peep from any Admins/GMs for logging in through server 2. Edit: Another thread from VI condoning it.... http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/e...ML/027306.html Last edited by Jait : 01-09-2003 at 11:47 PM. |

| 10-15 from my guild suspended/banned for this too. 1 person got a tell from a gm admin asking how we got in. this person told them we used eqlogin2. and everyone who was online at that time got suspended/banned without a word or reply from the gm. |

| Well.... wasent just us then. No conspiricy, but still absolutly impossible to believe. We also did not get to discuss it, we were told it came down from a "superior". Alas we were told we could not speak to this elusive "superior" and to direct our comments to the brick wall basically. Oh well. Sorry to hear it went around. |

| I didn't even say that much Analia. Just told him I logged in using the same desktop shortcut I always used and that everything seemed normal. No reply from him, just suspended when I logged in again a few minutes later. Posted at the tech boards asking for an explanation. |

+16 Internets | wow! Can you say bad internal communication? Sad to see CQ is again a victim of the "ban first, ask questions later" policy... obviously cancellation of the warning/suspensions and public apologies are deserved for this one.

+16 Internets | Well... when a part of SOE says "you can do that" on a public message board they own and another part of SOE bans you for doing it, I don't see how they can say the consumers are at fault. The chewbaka defense maybe....

| You forgot to add Jait and Sticks, that the GM wanted us to stop in the middle of CR and log out in the spawn room /boggle. And when I asked if I could at least res the rest of the corpses before he TL'ed us out, he said he would move all the corpses to zonein, lol... The whole thing is fucking ridiculous. How can you suspend several people for following directions that were explicitly given and implictly supported by SoE/VI in their own tech forums? |

| I dont know.. But maybe my reading comprehension isn't up to snuff... absolutely NOWHERE on that thread does it say "connect to these servers". The instructions provided are how to traceroute to said hosts.

| This was pretty homotastic. You have an insanely popular game with hundreds of thousands of players and you have fuckups like this. I understand that universally Customer Service among major companies are less than satisfactory but come on now, this is just stupid. Elidrin Blade`Storm Forest Stalker of Conquest Lanys T'Vyl |

| well while suspension seems over raction I don't see where that thread says anymore than how to do a traceroute. By-passing normal login process to get online faster and so to spawns faster sounds a lot like an exploit. Especally if normal login was not even open to others which from the GM's being so suprised you were there looks to be the case. if you cant do the time dont do the crime. |

| The problem is that you can't tell whether the LOGIN servers are down intentionally or not. The message you get back is the same whether they are congested, or whether they are 'locked'. The SERVER itself was already up. If they REALLY wanted to keep people from logging in, they needed to either NOT bring the server up, or disable ALL 3 login servers. The login server info is public info, and is available on their own tech forum. Nothing in the EULA states that logging into an alternate login server is 'against the rules'. |
