** Demise of the Classic/Velious Interface **

Over the last six months we have been keeping the Classic EverQuest interface as well as the Velious interface working through all of the features that we have added (built-in MP3 player, item links, compass, enhanced /bug reporting tool, and others). However, with the release of some of the new features in this patch, such as running EQ in a window, we must now say goodbye to the older interfaces. They have been disabled as of today.

They served us well.



** EQ in a Window **

EverQuest can now be run in a window. To place EverQuest in a window, simply press Alt-Enter. You can also switch out of EverQuest to another program by using the familiar Alt-Tab. It is important that you do not do this until you are in-game, do not do this during the login process.

It is important to note a few things. Running the game in a window may reduce game performance a bit. And, as always, the more programs you have running at the same time the more resources they use.

At this time, due to some changes that need to be made on the front end, it is not possible to run two instances of EverQuest. We will be working to make the necessary changes over the next few weeks.



** Songs Window **

We have added a new window to the interface along with new game functionality. The Songs window is a new buff window that holds up to 6 bard song buffs. This increases the potential maximum effects that a character can have to 21 (15 standard and the 6 new ones). The new window only holds certain bard songs (generally the 3-tick songs). Only beneficial songs will qualify for the new buff box, and not all of those. Any buff in the new Songs window is considered temporary and will not be saved when you zone.

Songs that qualify to go into the new window will go into that window first. Any qualifying songs over six will be rerouted to the main Effects window. Cancel Magic effects will see these new buff slots as buff slots #16-21.

Note for User Interface skin creators: The Label EQTypes 80-85 are the Songs window song names.



- Some magical effects on Planar class armor have been altered. In most cases the effects were upgraded, but a few items were given weaker effects that were more in line with the difficulty of obtaining them.
- Fixed a bug that was causing a few Planes of Power NPCs to take too long to respawn.
- Wu's Attack should now work correctly.
- Incoming damage now interacts with Wrath of the Wild and other rune-type spells in their proper order.
- Pact of Shadow and Shadow Compact will once again heal player characters.
- Charmed Pets will no longer remain charmed after the owner dies.
- Sending special characters (such as < and ") via EQIM will no longer freeze the game.
- Hitting Autoattack when in explore mode at Character Select will no longer cause the game to crash.
- The Loadskin window will now load skins other than the default properly.
- Fixed and issue that caused some NPC's text to be cut short.
- Fixed (but did not rename) the Broken Golem. He should no longer be hated in Fear, just feared...
-Lowered the duration of calm-type spells that effect creatures level 50 and over.

well, at least they're saying they will re-enable the ability to two box on the same computer. any bets on how long this takes them?

i can't believe they will put too much effort into it, after all, they let it move from test before it was complete.

What kind of "front end" changes would they need to allow for multiple sessions of EQ running on same computer when EQw already provides that functionality?

Max Wu's skill should make it what it was before the "fix".

If its not and only a 50 percent chance, then the skill needs a re-evaluation. As it stood, Wu's was the only real monk exclusive DPS option...infact, it is our FIRST class only dps AA as SOL had none. All the other DPS options available to monks were made available to all the other melee classes and hybrid classes as well.

Now they have made it pretty damn worthless and for 10AA we'll still get no where near the DPS increase that other class AA like archery mastery or the various spell AA that sk get.

VI once again is sending the monk to an early velious state. They've decided they dont want us to be able to take damage well, even though most of our AA are defensive in nature. Now what they claim we are made for, DPS, is being trivialized by the continued beefing of other classes in the damage department while taking away any edges monks currently have left.

EQW is busted ATM

the long prmised monk fix never came, and the fucking gimp windows mode.


i swear to god if i did not have 3 years invested in this game i woudl walk away without hesitation. if they would have done this arond the SOV expansion i woulda stopped then, this shit is becoming more and more retarded each patch that goes by

they gimp a level 19 spell because it works on mobs "at or above" level 50, but they didn't touch the new druid harmony of nature, which is still 2 minutes in duration.

Tell me druid community, how much does those call girls your sending to SOE cost, and where do you rent them? I want to buy my class's way to the top of the food chain too!

they fix a 4 year old problem, then nerf it cause it works. I bet some asshole who wrote the thousands of gimp mobs that drop nothing are pleased with themselves. we all get to waste a fuckload of time killing green crap agian, yay

Shut up, druids already had to endure a nerf when they completely destroyed Harmony. We were given Harmony of Nature as 'compensation' for the gimping. By nerfing that even further they may as well remove the ability from druids all together.

Druid/Ranger HoN is already a nerfed version of the old harmony. And no, it doesn't work indoors like the cleric/paladin/enchanter line which is still far better, just 1/3 the duration instead of 3x the duration.

Really fucking sad that their programers spend months working to copy a free, 88kb program and it doesn't even work half as well as the original.

Just should have offered that programer 5-10k (sure that they spent more on salaries for their piece of shit) and gotten the rights to EQW. Never had a problem with that not working correctly...

You know, seriously, VI's programers make Microsoft's bug & broken software issues look positively minute. MS should use that in their Ad's. "Least our shit isn't as fucked as VI's"

Was it just me......

Or could anyone who wanted to PLAY EQ IN A WINDOW ALREADY! and run two clients at the same time ALREADY. you should have included a link to EQW in the patch message and gone on to FIX real content....like a solution to the flag system, Killing the same Trackanon V 2.0 mob FOR ONE person to just get SHIT loot is getting a bit old. bastards
