+16 Internets | I will certainly not say that my main interest in gaining gear is being able to impress the other player. I would also add that getting gear is far to be my main interest in the game. But that is not because these aspects are not the most important for me that they do not matter or factor in my enjoyment of the game. It's not about winning over the other players, it's about being part of a micro society. In the same way one does not want in life to be no one, achieve nothing and not be respected, one does not want in EQ to be no one, achieve nothing and not be respected. I'll let the many Internet PHD of Sociology and Philosophy debate over why it is like this :P

i was talking about the main point of his post and what beauti said about how he was baiting everybody into a fight? who knows. maybe he's just contimplating why ppl do what they do. or maybe he was tryin to bait ppl. or maybe a little of both? but the fact still remains that he had a valid question and nobody needs to spaz out and for my own input, i think people play this game for power. you want to get gear to increase your power, so you can kill bigger and stronger monsters to feel more powerful and get more gear to gain more power....to kill bigger and badder monsters ...etc ...its kinda a endless cycle. the higher u get up the more time it requires, this is what seperates the elites from the norm or weaker players. you get what u put in . People quest for power, they play for power. why do so many people play games online where u compete/battle other people? because you get a good feeling at kicking their ass or gaining power over them, dont deny it, its true. its human nature ...in some its stronger then others. that is why i think people care about others and what they do, what gear they have, how far they are progressing. whether it be to aid them in getting power(knowing about other guilds progression, how to kill mobs, what items they can attain from those mobs) , drooling over items that theyd like to imagine having cuz of the power that it would give them? jealousy? dunno , maybe one or more of those Last edited by tanuvyen : 01-08-2003 at 11:21 PM. | |
