PoP Two handed weapons broken/badly itemized, details - Page 3

One group with 2 chanters can get a Greatstaff of the Four Winds. We've gotten a couple, nice weapons, way to nice for the gimp encounter. A mini-boss from a easy zone should not be dropping a Emp/Cursed level weapon. Maybe make it drop off the 2nd boss on the way to agnarr. Thats about the correct RvR...

Actually,

I disagree, Auliffe dropping the Greatstaff is about right, it's the drops above him that should be rethought. I mean seriously, have a look at Kunark loot rules, where single group mobs dropped level appropriate weapons at the time, and they weren't of significantly higher difficulty than normal experience giving mobs, whereas here, Auliffe is significantly more difficult than your average joe Vann Militis/Kriger.

One bow over another at the high end is only marginally better and becomes nothing more then a stat modifier anyway.

Heh sad but that greatstaff smothers all those elemental plane weapons, and even smokes the emp 2hander from time to time in the hands of a ranger lol (parsed hehe).

Yet the lower delay weapons stink? Like crazy? /agree on all counts here, the ONLY semi-decent 2handers in this xpac so far (and most don't have serpent's bite except the horn from BOT for sks), are the horn, greatstaff, and the bostaff off Jiva for Monks (which coincidentally made it right at 28 delay, /whew monks). Everything below that 28 delay cutoff stinks for RVR.

Quick dirty fix? Raise all the delays and damages of any ELEMENTAL PLANE 2hander to > 28 delay, at a 2.5/1 ratio, round down. The reason I suggest this, is that it's very likeley that the below 28 delay band aid fix for the runed fighters staff and silver swiftblade in Kunark is SO BURIED IN THE CODE that they would break EVERYTHING to fix it. Simply recode the items and you have a winner. 28 delay is about as fast as anyone would want to swing a 2 hander anyway, after all most knights want to have the ability to cast between swings, and I gotta say I'm also a huge fan of this, since VI decided to railroad knights, rangers, warriors and monks to use 2handers with the punishing blade aa for max dps, instead of giving that chance of a triple on 1handers too hehe.

Got this from Plane of Air last night off a named:

Shining Shortsword
14/18
+4 magic damage
75 hps/mana
12 dex, 12 to some saves

While the stats leave a LOT to be desired, and the +magic damage will be streaky and iffy as always...you gotta figure it'll average out to be something like a 16/18

which is pretty nice in comparison to most of the other discovered 1 handers in PoP so far...although still nothing to get really excited about. And it still doesn't make you wanna forget about AHB from Emp ( or even the Innovators Hammer from PoI ) and while were at it...the BoF from NToV for fucks sake.

The mob it came from was called something like Baltaztalor the Cursed or something ( same model as Ston Ruach, Ancient of the Trees )...Red con to 65, hit for over 1k, had a very frequent AE for 1280 ( your flesh begins to rot ) disease cloud...and it had a large slow component.

So, in short...a named mob that could probably own almost all the flag mobs from earlier planes and everything from Luclin together drops a 1hs that is hardly better than the Innovatar's hammer, or a weapon from NToV...it's ridiculous...and needs to be changed. Put a useful proc on it...or just remove the + magic damage and make it a base 17/18 or something close...and put some REAL stats on it...and a proc too...then at least you'd be close to a real weapon.

Don't know about other classes, but bards have a 19/19 sword with great stats that procs rune three, plus the pet sword which is very nice as well.

Update: I was told I was full of shit and making all this up, and that almost no weapons have lower than 28 delay and everything is fine and dandy. Also, I was told they are within 10% of goldenrod's damage minus the proc, just as intended. Yes, its okay that weapons from elemental planes are useless next to a luclin mob that we can now kill with under 12 people that requires no keying, no flagging, and no questing. Basically, the fact that the very best weapon for knights so far in pop drops from a one group mob in Bastion of Thunder is not an accident at all, because I was assured they knew exactly what they were doing when they gave these items a sub 28 delay and all is working as intended.

And no I am not lying, being sarcastic or exaggerating.

These are the people we are making rich, folks.

Within 10% minus the proc? uh, seems to me an item described like that should be dropping in The Deep or Plane of Nightmare.

Why even put weapons in the elemental planes if they are far worse then a Ssra mob drop that requires 0 skill to kill? To even admit elemental plane weapons are worse dps (add in that proc damage and you have a HUGE dps gap) then something dropping pre-PoP shows how out of touch these item creaters are with their own game. Way to go VI!

i parsed my facesmasher (48/42) from VELIOUS against my mithril shod staff (33/20) from sol ro's tower...guess who won?

damage bonus on the facesmasher=42
damage bonus on the mithril shod staff=13 (the same as a ONE HANDED WEAPON MAIN HAND)

Damn I'm tired of this subject too... it happens with a heck of a lot of badly itemized drops in PoP from what I've seen.

We were exploring Sol Ros tower today after recently gaining access. We found Xuzl. We killed Xuzl. Then it basically went like this:

Officer: Tell me if you want in for Circular Shield of the Blaze...
Officer: Tell me if you want in for Circular Shield of the Blaze...
Officer: Tell me if you want in for Circular Shield of the Blaze... Rotting...
Officer: Ok next one...
Officer: Tell me if you want in for Lance of the Flame Knight...
Officer: Tell me if you want in for Lance of the Flame Knight...
Officer: Tell me if you want in for Lance of the Flame Knight... Rotting...
AE TL out, went and killed emp instead who dropped some good loot, none of which rotted.

Right now, I use Bloodied Berserker's Blade when I'm tanking. Good agro proc, nice and defensive, good resists and stats, nice heavy damage output. When I'm damage dealing, I use Goldenrod. Lesser stats/resists, better damage ratio, more damaging proc.
Thus far, I havent seen a PoP weapon I'd loot as an upgrade. Theres 2 weapons from PoP I do want. Gem Encrusted Axe (the 33/22 1h one with Runic proc, 125hp 135mana etc), for tanking - I havent used a 1h weapon since I was level 54ish in Velks back in Velious, but this one is something I would use when tanking.
The other one I'd go for is the SK swarm pet one, mostly because from what I hear, you can get it with 1 group or less. If it was a raid only item, I probably wouldnt loot it, because my points are better spent in other areas.

2h wise, if they fixed the 28dly problem, and made the stats comparable to Luclin 2h's instead of just giving them wonderous dmg/dly ratios, I'd be interested. I agree with Kreugen, this needs work, whether its "working as intended" (usually meaning it sucks) or not.
