| New FTP Title: Allods Online I just got beta access for this game and I'm downloading it now. Interesting looking game that plans on being free to play. From the graphics and what I've read it's a little fantasy and steampunkish. You have typical classes and roles etc. The graphics are more like WOW style graphics. The video show in the Massively link shows good animations and voice overs. Unfortunately I havn't done any large amounts of research on this game other than reading the Massively article. Hopefully it gives some of you bored people something to try to do. Beta ends the 24th, and it's only limited to the first 10 levels anyway. Massively did a write up for it. gPotato Presents ALLODS ONLINE - A Completely Free To Play Online Game! The game could end up being a fun diversion like Runes of Magic was. I have no idea if this game is good or not.. yet. But where else can you play as HitlerOrc? |

| Playing now. Looks like a better version of ROM. Some negatives from playing a few minutes. Combat is slow, and takes while. Someone said it "picks up later". I can't scale the UI. Ugh. Scrolling combat text on my seer sucked. You can play those gibberlings. Your PC is basically three little guys running around casting shit. it's pretty cool. Quick screen shot. |

| Double post. Some positives though. Stats look like they do something, at least in the tool tip which seems fun. It's responsive, and quick. A+ on that though. I'll spend some more time with it. Playing around with classes. Looks a lot like Warhammer and stuff. Playing a Summoner of some mechanical undead race. Looks pretty cool. Edit: Leveling curve is a little large. :/ Last edited by Draegan; 11-18-2009 at 09:32 PM.. |

| This was originally developed in Russia, so I can already hear all the "In Mother Russia, the free to play MMO grinds you." comments. The tutorial is pretty cool I have to admit. Once you get past that it takes forever to kill mobs (you'll be level 4ish) as many of the classes. The "mage" of the game has some interesting mechanics though. You essentially have your fire, frost and electric (read: arcane) damage spells, and using them builds up "force" each time you cast a spell of that type. You have three skills to release this built up force on-demand, or it will automatically release once you reach 5 stacks. Effects can be beneficial or detrimental to you and include spell locking that school of magic for like 8 seconds, granting a buff to another school of magic for a short time, restoring mana/health, removing mana/health, making your next spell faster cast, etc.

| Kill speed is down right awful after the tutorial. We're talking 20-30 seconds. The grind is there early too. Took an hour or so to hit level 5. There are some fun mechanics and the look and feel of the game is top notch. The arisen are badass. I don't know how hard it is to get in. Some of the mmo news sites were given away keys. I signed up on their website a few days ago. I either got lucky or its easy. |

| It's still closed beta. I'll check their forums later to see whats up. But there are basically two sides and 4 archtypes. However the archtype is different depending on race. I'm assuming the same mechanics but different flavors. Who knows what kind of balance there is. |

+6 Internets | This game is kind of a surprise out of left field. Aside from the abnormally long fight length, lack of auto attack (you have to spam it instead), low mob exp compared to quests, and a few class balance issues and bugs, it's a fun game for what it is. I actually said "holy shit" out loud during the Empire tutorial, which plays completely differently from the League tutorial. The quest text is well translated, and often actually worth reading. The little details you see while running around and experiencing the world are great. The Arisen race is interesting and unique, and will likely vastly outnumber all others. In a nutshell, Allods renews my faith in the gimmick. (and the Russian sense of humor) |
