+1 Internets | Well if we're doing the whole favorite card thing... also as far as lands go, I've got this pretty hilarious land-based deck that has something like 40 mountains. It uses an enchantment that lets you discard a land from your hand to deal 2 damage, Seismic Assault. Also uses Land Tax which is a one white enchantment and states that if the opponent controls less land than you, you can search for up to 3 lands and put them into your hand. Also uses some green reshuffling card- Gaia's something, can't recall the name. Pretty fun deck since it just sits there with one or two land out the whole time, and a hand loaded with mountains just rapes anything. |

| You just gotta be smart about it. I have been playing since '95 and no one, expecially girls I date, know that I play. A couple of times I left them out on the kitchen table not realizing it when a girl comes over and i just blame it on my rooms and those "wizard cards". |

As a competitive MTG player that sounds bad, and you're bad.

| Last time I was really into MTGO (bout a year ago, standard), I played a mono-white protection deck with Story Circles, Runed Halos, sideboard pithing needles, you name it. When people see you mainboarding story circles, it's sometimes insta-quit, lol. What fun they are against aggro/burn xD. Win conditions were sparse, and the games were usually long. Was a brick wall of a deck, only cost about 150 bucks, and would draw some real rage fits from decks that cost over 500 bucks, lol. I admit it was a bore and a half to play against, but I personally loved playing it and beating the big money decks with it xD. My win/loss ratio in the casual room was far and away in my favor, and I ended up seeing copy cats before I quit. When elf decks were hot, I had the best u/g elf deck possible. Distant Melodies + Coat of Arms were key and a blast. I've tried alot of TCG's, both online and local here in Portland, OR - nothing has yet to beat magic, at least up until a year ago. It's still the real thinking man's TCG, and I'm a fan for life. WoW TCG is a horrible joke. Last edited by SlyyDaugg; 11-03-2009 at 03:01 AM.. |

+29 Internets | As long as I can build my own deck and it's not like the 360 version of the game. That's fine.

| No one apparently read it, which isn't a shock because the teaser video sucks balls and all but it's a strategy game WHERE THE CARDS COME ALIVE so while I'm sure there'll be some sort of money grabbing microtransaction scheme going on here, it doesn't sound like it will actually involve cards, just stuff which comes from cards in a crappy bid to mimic FF tactics or tactics ogre or something. |

+1 Internets | GAEA. No wonder I couldn't google it. And I've never been a competitive mtg gamer... well, not since like the Rathe cycle anyway. The whole Type 2 thing pissed me off and ever since then I would just play type 1/1.5 with friends casually. So yeah I just made up theme decks or silly shit after that. I literally have a fucking minotaur deck based on the Homeland's card Didgeridoo. That should tell you how seriously I took magic last time I played, haha. Still love the game though. |
