For people who are planning on playing Aion and want others to join them, what makes this game so much fun? Isn't this just another Lineage/Lineage 2 grindfest with mediocre gameplay and good graphics?

From what I can tell if someone isn't active in the PvP game you aren't going to really 'fuck them up' beyond making them spawn at their bind point. You don't lose rating or whatever in the system until you've progressed to a certain rank (8?), so griefing will mostly be about denial of questing in the lowbie zones.

This is why I preordered. :P I like pvp as much as the next guy but I also like leveling very quickly and we get a 2 day head start.

As for why I'm playing, I think it's partially related to WoW's ToC patch killing my desire to log on ever again.

Uhh, when I say I want to fuck someone, I mean I want them to talk shit to me on forums, build up a castle and then have me burn it to the ground. I don't care about griefing and I only kill the bad guys.

I guess my question is, do guilds build these fortresses and then you can blow them up?

hahaha, yeah, haven't explored that far into Aion PvP. I'm mostly figuring out where to farm the next 10 bear asses right now.

I could be wrong since I haven't done it myself but from what I understand there are world fortresses that can be captured and held. You can't build your own guild fort or attack another guild's personal fort afaik but I think guilds can claim the world forts.

Well there are rankings, and the top three ranks of only room for about 15 or so people. When you kill one of their ranking players I can see the shit talking to go from there.

I don't really get the point of declaring a "PVP Server" in a game where every server is PVP and the point of the game is to PVP, but my guild Pirate from Cenarius will be rolling on Zikel (Asmodian) for release.

Basically, there's a gaming community, albeit a small one, that has developed over the last 12 years from games like UO, Shadowbane, DAoC. Despite being terribly similar in gaming goals and playstyle, a lot of us hate each other and want to fight each other for the sake of fighting each other.

Let me explain it another way. While leveling in AoC in day 2 or 3 or whatever I had a full group of PRX in a really beautiful zone farming mobs peacefully. Bonedancer and a full group of SiN showed up to contend for our area. I don't remember who won the first fight, but what I do know is that the 'smart' thing in terms of progression would have been for the loser to back off and find another place.

That's not what happened. Instead we fought each other for a couple hours, each time the person who was able to ambush the other won. In the end fruitlessly fighting Sinister was more enjoyable than most things in MMOs, and there's very few people in gaming that feel that way.

Those few people are grouped together and join MMOs together.

Yes, it's quite funny watching people freak out over this and post that Siel is the place to be. All I can think, is that those are the exact people we're trying to avoid.

I do believe they are more then just something to fight over as well. I read somewhere that they offer some kind of benefits but it was a vague article.

Like I said, nothing to see here, Siel, is the pvp server. Non jackasses will read between the lines. The best part about posting this, or my earlier post, is the jackasses can't read between the lines so it is like this post never existed! Believe me, FOH has plenty of jackasses these days.
