| The fact that we have people like Curt posting here means that this forum is alive and well. If people chase the likes of Curt and other developers off then the forum itself will be all the poorer. I have to admit, I am definitely interested in how the stuff from 38 Studios will turn out, if only because it has RA Salvatore attached (yes, I am bad, I have all of his books). It makes me secretly hope that Copernicus is based off of the DemonWars universe, but I doubt that's the case :P |

| the thread meta-analysis bullshit is amusing so here's my take; before another thread gets shit up, don't forget this thread was created because his other thread got hijacked. There isn't new info every day on so much other bullshit on this forum but that doesn't stop threads from getting bumped from various garbage posts. Losing that opportunity by having his thread hijacked and locked is fair grounds for starting up a new thread. It esems unfair to accuse him of not having 'new info' in this scenario. With that said, the whole 'i'll use my thread as my personal blog' thing he does once in awhile should probably end; while this isn't EJ and you don't get banned for things like that, it still is usually reserved for idiots, and is far from the behavior I'd expect from a game developer. Posts like 'hey me and/or my kids started up a new toon here come join us' are unnecessary. If a bump-post is needed, it's easy enough to do by posing a random mmo-design question to all the armchair devs here and pretend like you're listening to what they have to say, and you'd be less likely to be called out on it for what it is, a meaningless bump. |

+66 Internets | Love to refute that, but I get it. I can't really use my blog right now, our forums are not up yet, and I don't want to run around our fan sites and do it. I'll defer to you guys and not post here until we announce our IP and some other stuff. This just seemed like one of the better places, though sometimes loud, to talk to harder core MMO players. In the meantime I was wondering who I talk to, Ravven? as a guild leader for FOH and doing some work together? If someone has direct contact info PM me if you can. Thanks

+31 Internets | Okay guys. Tuco and I are going to be watching this thread and the MMO forums in general a bit more than we have in the past. We think it is great that MMO insiders, devs and designers come here and value our opinions and, for some reason, want to talk to us. We want to foster that feeling and because of that, especially in threads like this, we are going to be a bit tougher on attacks and plain trolling. Questions and constructive criticisms are welcome. Shitting on devs/product/ideas, repeating your negative opinion over and over so much that it disrupts the thread, will not be tolerated. I have no problem with someone saying someone or some idea is wrong and giving reasons why. I don't like calling someone out and then not backing it up, or posting 10+ times about how you are right and soandso product will fail and you will be around to remind everyone about how prophetic you were. Carry on. PS: Curt, if you need anything, please feel free to PM me.

For the record, I completely understand why you are working this way, but can we have the clause work both ways? I have no problem banning completely terrible posters who do nothing but try to act like tough guys over some grudge they have, but I'd rather not have people be left completely alone to shill out a product or promise the sky with no evidence. Basically, allow people to politely call out bullshit on both sides. Last edited by Gnome Eater; 08-31-2009 at 06:20 AM..

| Just post whatever the hell you want and let people do with it as they will. If it's bullshit you'll know. Don't let Utnayan sway your idea of what bullshit actually is.

Baiting people, calling them out just to be a dick and shitting up threads with 10+ posts of negative crap to every one of everyone elses, will not be looked on kindly.

+31 Internets | Curt you are fine. You are welcome to come and ask for ideas and opinions. Just don't be Aradune/Brad and we will be golden.

If you do that you are deferring to the vocal minority. It'd be good to hear more from Ryan and Steve; they haven't been about for quite a while. Are they busy with work or was it a conscious decision for folks not to post here so much ?
