+166 Internets | You weren't supposed to create a new thread till you had something newsworthy to post. I call shenanigans. I demand a risqué photograph of FoH written on your new CEO's chest in recompense for this outrage. |

| What is the average development cycle for MMO's anyway? Five years? Four? How far into the production cycle is a MMO "revealed" on average? Can someone get these numbers/facts and post them? It would be interesting to see how long each MMO took to produce that came out in the last 10 years. Also, finding how long into the dev cycle it took devs/brass to release solid info about said MMO's would be noteworthy to the current discussion. Im not exactly sure how hard this information is to find so forgive me in advance. The longer this thing draws out though, the louder the whispers will get. How long did it take BioWare/Lucas to announce SWKOTOR into the development cycle? They had a lid on it for a while, some even thought it would be a Mass Effect MMO, but eventually they let the cat out of the bag and have been waning info to the masses ever since, building SUBSTANCE which a real fanbase can latch onto.

| I'm the first to fanboi about shit. But seriously; Stop trying to be Brad McQuaid 2.0; You fucking suck at it. You are about as immature as I am, and James can attest to me being a fucking moron. Get this shit outta here until there's real news. |

+60 Internets | 4-6 years of true dev time, of which we've had about 1.5 tops to date. Only 1 MMO has come in under 3 years from reveal to launch of the NA MMO's. Dymus posted the data near the end of the train wreck that was the last thread.

| The real issue is that this was 'big news' (at least around these parts) when the company first formed, long before there was any MMO to even work on. Most of the MMOs you hear being announced are by established companies, or companies that quietly formed. It doesn't help that Curt is quite 'vocal' on topics he is passionate about, i.e. mmos, baseball and Barry Bonds. ![]() So it's not like it's taking extraordinarily longer than the 'norm', it's that people jumped on the hype train sooner than usual. The only comparable title I can think of would be Vanguard, and Sigil was formed 5 full years prior to release.

+60 Internets | Agreed. The biggest mistake was being as excited about it as early as I was. My first posts here were long before we'd even THOUGHT about starting what anyone would consider true development. As least we'll get to see how truly long it takes, from starting a company, to launching an MMO. FWIW it's a hell of a lot longer than I thought.

+227 Internets | Two things that come to mind with comparing GMG to others in regards to development time: They have the luxury atm of taking their time, and just because it took company A 4 years and company B 5, is it fair to assume that GMG must take a similar timeframe? The only complaint I've seen so far that I feel is valid, is that Curt started talking about this 3 years ago, and we're getting antsy. Beyond that, what? He hasn't lied to us that I can see, but his hands are tied in regards to what he can say. I can see that creating the illusion that they are hiding something, or that they are "fucking things up" and therefore will need to extend development time. Even then, shouldn't we be happy that its taking too long, especially in the aftermath of other rushed games? People have been crying for more information (some as though GMG OWES it to them, wtf?), and that's understandable, but do we really want to see GMG rushing shit out the door in order to cling to someone else's timetable? I don't. And no offense to Curt, but without being able to release anymore information, there really isn't much more he can say w/o leaking anything, so the well has run dry. Of course, he could have some other people in the studio come post, maybe a new angle or viewpoint would be refreshing, but are people going to jump their shit? If Curt were to have Salvatore come over to talk about lore, are people going to get pushy and demanding, and later would we be having Utnayan coming back screaming at him You worthless fuckstick, I KNEW YOU'D RECYCLE YOUR BOOKS INTO THIS SHITTY LORE YOU'VE ALL LIED TO US!! I HOPE YOU GET FUCKED IN THE ASS FOR EVERY DRIZZT THAT GET'S ROLLED AT CHARACTER CREATION, YOU'VE RUINED THE GAME FOR ME!!!. I'm sure we'd love to have some of the GMG staff come over for...something. At this point, Curt is like an MC that has had to cover for an act that's 3 years late for their performance, and the crowd is getting angry. But, in light of Utnayan's latest meltdown, how likely is it that someone we haven't heard from before is going to post here? I pray I'm wrong as I'd like to hear from some of them, but for God's sake if someone does come over, can we at least not jump their shit if the stars align and someone new does actually post? |

| Gee what a surprise. Ut couldn't keep his mouth shut and shat up the last thread as expected. Powah, unless the mods don't want him Ngruk to post here, he has a right to, and to discuss what he wants (or doesn't want to as the case may be). If you don't care, don't read or post in it. Ngruk has the choice to be Brad in terms of discussing design and content, or not. He hasn't said his game will be the Second Coming of Jesus, so until he does, I'll check in from time to time. If he discusses theory, people bitch. If he ends up discussing content and design (actual), folks will bitch. Ut bitched about him just shutting up and making the game (which sounded like a five-year old's rant) and got ugly professionally and personally. Good riddance. If you want to call a guy out professionally for doing or not doing something, it's one thing. You can talk business. I think the thread is a little unnecessary myself, as Ngruk could post in other threads, and this one was designed for his convenience. So would the mods consider this a shill thread (no pun intended) and shut it down? Maybe we should have a separate area of the forums designed for dev/company - player discussion? A lot of us want devs to post here, and would like to see what's on people's minds. Just food for thought.

| I say take as long as it takes. Just get it right, make something thats interesting, and fun to play. But....there IS a limit, a window if you will, before interest fades and development hell starts to flourish.

| If the game is good, it doesn't matter when it comes out. Are you going to not play a game that is good just because it came out later than you wanted? No. And if you've grown up and moved past MMOs by then, oh well. There's no shortage of unplanned pregnancy these days.

See? The issue is he's creating a thread ABOUT HIS GAME with no real news. Now, when you've something to address while you have the full story; You're welcome to post again.

If you still feel the need to post, why don't you start a Utya circlejerk thread where you can both rant about how evil all devs are for daring to post on this hallowed forum.
