As far as I understood it, the 1999 guys will release patches in the same timeframe as the original. So let's say, necros will don't start out with Screaming Terror and get different versions of it over time. Now the interesting question is: Can you give fine steel daggers to pets? Last but not least, what about the very first versions of the 49 necro pet that could clean Lower Guk all by itsself?

The difficult problem with such progression servers is what class to chose if you have an idea about the timeline. Druids were cool initially, but then? Rogues sucked for a long time, but with Kunark and especially Velious they were pretty good. Who will ever play a troll SK? I mean where is the upside? Can't go wrong with chanters and shamans of course...

In my opinion this concept will run into trouble around Velious. You simply need too many well equiped and competent players to kill stuff like AoW or Tunare and a playerbase of 300-400 players doesn't allow it, because people cannot put up that much time and effort. Powerful guilds had 70-100 players back then and I doubt that the whole playerbase can be devided into 4-5 high end guilds. Well, we will see how it works out.

So I was just joking about having my crashing issues resolved, they just disappeared to fuck with me and make me think that all is well, then came back twice as strong crashing for no motherfucking reason. Anyone on P1999, if you have some magic fix outside of compatibility mode, disabling firewall, and plugging directly into modem, I will give you all of my plat, like 120pp, just for your fucking information if it fixes this problem. Seriously, I will go wherever you are in game, /emote suck your dick, and hand over all my money, and be fucking thrilled about it if it fixes this problem. I zone fine like 60% of the time, and the rest I just never load in and eventually get kicked to login. This super awesome problem turns any train to zone, any death, into a 20 fucking minute ordeal. I'm so pissed cuz I been banging my head against this problem all god damn day trying shit out. Nothing works.

I have no fucking idea what the problem is. Compatibility mode, check. Disable firewall, check. I tried the fix on the forums about running EQ, then opening it up in processes and setting it to run on 1 cpu core, but when I go to do that it says "access denied." HEY MOTHERFUCKER I'M THE GODDAMN ADMINISTRATOR. WHO THE FUCK IS DENYING ME ACCESS? I'M THE FUCKING KING OF THIS COMPUTER. I don't have fucking downs syndrome, but vista and win7 security bullshit is like some fucking kid fucking with me and randomly denying me access to do shit. I thought that was why they invented non-administrator accounts, so the administrator can do everything and the non-administrators can't. What's the purpose of being a god damn administrator? I gotta jump through a million god damn hoops to do the simplest things on my own god damn computer, even as the fucking administrator. Fuck.

Melee is pretty much the same as classic EQ at the moment. The problem is most people don't remember classic EQ melee~

Arden is wrong. Watching the yellow bar for about 30 sec will confirm that. I suppose he thinks it was classic to meditate mana back up faster than the yellow bar fills up, haha. Slightly buggy server, come with a healthy bug tolerance or don't come at all.

Pet classes and shamans seem over-represented but are also popular for groups (especially the former). Clerics exist in sufficent numbers. If you don't want to play a melee until they see tweaks, pick whatever you find suitably fun.

If you're running on Win7/Vista, move your everquest folder outside of the Program Files folder. C:\Games or C:\Everquest would work fine.

Permissions issues

Enable administrator account:

open a command prompt with administrator priviliges.

Then run "net user Administrator /active:yes" without the quotes. Then log out of your account and into the admin account for pesky permissions issues.

My win7 install is clean as of last week, as is EQ. I tried every single fix listed on both the p1999 website and the multi core fix from eqemu website.

I will try that stuff, thanks. I'm not holding out hope but I will try absolutely anything.

Update... So far here is everything I have tried:

1. Win xp compatability mode, sp2, sp3, win2k, win98 (fucked up), vista, and no compatability mode
2. Firewall off
3. Opened port 5998 in router
4. Run eq on only single core (start eq, alt-tab, open task manager, set affinity)
5. Run as administrator
6. Set router to DMZ mode (no security iirc)
7. All of the above, in almost every combination possible
   

Have not tried yet:

1. Plug directly into modem
2. Blow up my computer

My offer still stands. Anyone who gives me the info necessary to fix the problem I will give all my plat to. It's not much, but I'll chase you down and give it to you whereever you are no strings attached. At least 100pp, maybe more. I should mention that I am in Korea, maybe that makes a difference, I don't know. I can have a Korean friend call the internet company and maybe see if they are blocking port 5998? I don't know much about networking. Internet cafes are all the rage here so many there is some difficulty gaming with a home connection?
