The could take some cue's from some of the low to mid range dungeons in VG, if you could make it deep enough never saw anyone else because that was an achievement.

Huh? Might be an EQ vs EQ2 thing as EQ had that issue when I played it. But in EQ2, every single public dungeon I've done involved 0 camping and 0 waiting for that certain spot I want to open up thing. Groups I've been in (and every group I've seen) moves around the dungeon clearing as we go. We might cycle by a certain spot a few times if we are in there for a while (especially KC which is super tiny) but I think I've spent a total of about 20 minutes sitting around waiting for a spawn in public dungeons in EQ2 total.

It also seems like they've mostly gotten away from the "kill the PH 93048234 times to get the named" concept which is nice. There is still the occasional PH mob, but you might kill it once or two to get the named instead of 10 or 20. Also, quests will usually accept the PH now.. like the epic quests you can kill the named OR its PH for the update.

I don't mind instancing. I would like to see some non-instanced stuff, though.

Also, make Dragons scary again.

Comes down to content. The idea of social dungeons and overcrowding is a non issue as long as there are alternatives and enough content. Vanilla EQ funneled everyone into 1 or 2 dungeons like Guk/Solb or Seb/HS and so forth. Vanguard had the right idea with this, but they ran out of time and had empty dungeons that weren't itemized and looked like they were thrown together in about 10 minutes. If there are enough places to go that have good loot and not shitty drops (Droga/Nurga etc in Kunark were empty because of this), its fine.

EQ2 was a real disappointment for me. I guess I also had EQ too much in mind. Going back after all of Gallenite's great work and for the Kelethin expansion a couple of times. Still just bleh. "Over regulated, cosmetically poor" agree on all sadly. It was just dull and disconnected game play. But here's hoping for v3.

Keep racial starting cities please. Less quest hub, more exploration to find stuff. Leave the cookie cutters in the cupboard too please.

Copy/paste Vanguard classes, make combat less spammy and have encounters be more strategic/script based, be focused on group content. Have 20% solo content with maybe 20% raid content.

/profit

You mean combat less spammy than VG or EQ2? Cause I thought combat in VG was pretty close to perfect for a mmo. Spellqueue to make it less spammy maybe. Also keep moving while casting. Really, they just need to make a new VG, but this time with a good engine and some solid endgame, and chances people would be all over it.

Less spammy than eq2. I liked Vanguard combat alot and their classes are some of the best in any mmo.

If they shoot shots in the dark, or fall short of anything mentioned in success, this will drop like a stone and kill SOE off completely.
I wholeheartedly agree. If they want to break the WoW cookie in two, they really can't afford to half-ass this.

I say keep experience loss so the retards can stay low level and play with the other retards. Also keep KS'ing so I can roll a weezard and KS the arch magi by chain casting ice comet. There is nothing like a drama filled Lower Guk on a Saturday night!

Look out for the obligatory ogre blocking the Sol B entrance and keeping everyone from escaping the LDC train to zone!

All of the fun aspects of EQ1 will never be accepted by the masses again.

Figure out how much money you'll need to make the game, then gain an extra 50% on that in funding.

This 'drag the dev process out over 4 years constantly changing core facets of the game then releasing it completely unfinished at the last moment because you run out of money' bullshit HAS. TO. STOP.

This genre is fucked until companies start refusing to release games until they're finished.
