Well, it depends. It is painfully Young Adult, but each book does get better. As far as overrated books that get turned into movies goes, Twilight is definitely better than Eragon or Harry Potter, though that isn't exactly a ringing endorsement. Stephanie Meyer's stand alone book, The Host, is better than Twilight by a fairly significant margin. So at least she is getting better as a writer.

It's really a matter of taste/opinion, I know. I'm just kind of astounded that someone that isn't a pre-teen girl likes Twilight more than Harry Potter :P I'm also not a big Harry Potter fan, and think most of the movies sucked.

Well, I think we both agree that they are both pretty poor examples of writing. I just find it funny that people can go freakin insane about how bad Twilight is, but then defend Harry Potter, which also has bad writing.

I haven't read a single page of Harry Potter, but my impression was that writers generally considered the Potter books to be of higher literary quality than 90% of mainstream fiction. I don't know where I got that, though.

If the Potter's author releases more books about him, I call cash cow, but so far they have been quite decent.I am also a bit pissed that she didn't kill him in the last book (Noes! SPOILERS!) when she had the perfect opportunity, hell he pretty much died. I still think that critics can't wrap their heads about it, because, hey, kids actually read!

The Harry Potter series was actually quite good, until the copout ending.

Twilight's first book was ok at best, then the second was worse, the 3rd was horrific, and the 4th was horror porn, only not uber gore "porn", I mean actual naked my baby is ripping it's way out of my naked body in a bloody explosion resembling a friggin geyser of blood while vampires all salivate at the prospect of diving into the hole in my belly now and gorge on my fluids, porn. The 4th book not only sucked, it left me a little shocked that people think this crap is young adult. I cannot wait to see how they alter the 4th book to avoid a R rating.
