The good news is that you're still alive. The bad news is that that's the good news. Also, you have no legs.

All mmos took a big hit when WoW came out, but none harder than DAoC. They were bleeding massive subs due to the ToA debacle, the New Frontiers debacle, shitty customer relations and plain old developer incompetence. Each of these things began burning out the best parts of the community, the old hands and guilds who had grown to define servers. In the months following WoW the player base collapsed on itself. People moved on and the embers of what remained was unrecognizable from its former glory. It's actually a sad story, especially when you consider how easily it could have gone the other way.

They just fucked too many things up, balance, bots, TOA, NF (which personally I liked, but that's neither here nor there). When WoW came around, everyone was just sick of Mythic's shit and jumped ship.

Well, I'm playing a Hero, currently level 32 on Morgan. From level 20-32 so far has been an actual breath of fresh air from WoW, dear god, although I haven't done any RvR at all yet the game is still so much better than wow PvE wise, it's a bit more barren but still the population is still 100x better, and still has that feeling that the people behind their characters are actual intelligent beings with conversation.

So far so good on my part, I absolutely love the aesthetics of this game and all it has to offer in that aspect, and for me, that is enough to keep me playing. I mean, fuck I can turn into a stag, that is so fucking badass. so if anyone wants to hit me up in game my name is Vargnatt

Hah, Heros. I remember back when they made it possible to roll a lurikeen hero, I rolled one to 20, just so I could run around as a mini-moose. Good times.

That was actually already an update on the moose form

Early on, a lurikeen would transform in the standard size moose, which was about 4 times bigger than the 'keen.
Holy Moosehead Out of Nowhere!

I enjoyed DaoC since launch, the opening of Darkness Falls.
Shrouded Isles was so-so (new interface, music, classes).
Trials made me unsub.

The early days had one of the best game communities I've seen.

The Ywain server is up now and you can transfer 20 ups now I think, or could if you could get to it. There's some outage in the area that has all the daoc stuff offline.

Seemed decently crowded on the albion side, but I haven't transferred my hibernians yet. My power supply blew and just got it fixed.

You'll notice Ywain1 - 10, those are just for housing. All the non housing areas are clustered together.

Honestly, its a shame that this didn't happen sooner. It should have happened back a year + ago, but sadly they just put the carrot out and because of WAR never let us take a bite.

Now that WAR has flopped so hard they are bending over backwards for this. If it happened before WAR came out I would prolly be all over this, but I went back to WoW instead.

BTW there are some bonuses until next monday:

200% bonus to XP in all classic zones and dungeons.

200% bonus to BP in all NF zones.

200% bonus to RP in Darkness Falls.

125% bonus to RP in all NF zones (excluding Darkness Falls)

20% bonus to Crafting Speed in Housing Zones.

10% bonus chance to gain a Crafting Skill Point in Housing Zones.

40% bonus to Crafting Speed in Capital Cities.

20% bonus chance to gain a Crafting Skill Point in Capital Cities.

I activated my ancient second account and it had 10 free days on it for some reason, so I leveled up a buffbot to 23 for thid (free level in a day or two).

I hate the idea of buffbots but I don't see them deciding to cut their own revenue anytime soon.

Is it no longer possible to roll a Luri Hero? I had a Celt Hero as my main PvP toon but for raiding I had a Luri Hero with 50 shield simply because they had the best blocking chances (and decent evasion.) I never understood why Hibernia was the least popular realm despite having some fantastic classes. Hero was the best pure melee fighter (LW 50 at least), mana enchanter was (imo) the most versatile PvE character, Bard was the best RvR group leader and druid was on-par with shaman for RvR healing. Though Midguard did have the best setting.

I think my luri was 50 pierce / 50 shield / 28(?) parry. An absolute tank.
