Just caught wind of this.

New MMO or next WoW expansion?

If it's a new MMO, it's a damn good name. Could be anything though, from dark fantasy to something sci fi or even modern.

Checked around the net, looks like WotLK trademark was just "Wrath of the Lich King", can't find a link for TBC.

I hope it's the new MMO too, because the name would suggest it might be something darker, maybe post-apocalyptic dark fantasy or something.

Still, the possibility of it being a WoW expansion is interesting to think about as well, given the name.

First thing that comes to mind for me:

• The maelstrom could explode. It’s already some sort of vortex of unstable energy, it’s possible that the expansion could be based around the expulsion of this energy.
  
• The ensuing chaos could warp Azeroth forever: resulting in Blizzard redoing the old world zones. Everyone has been pleading for them to allow flying mounts in the old world zones, but as we know the zones are not made with that in mind. Is it possible that Blizzard might use this cataclysmic event to change that?
  
• It would give a lore-worthy reason for non-Druids to be able to enter the Emerald Dream, which is currently plagued by corruption. If some sort of rift is torn in Azeroth, it may create a pathway for us to enter the Dream and fight back the corruption – restoring the dream might be the only way to heal Azeroth after its near destruction.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is set on the fictional world of Azeroth five hundred years after the Wrath of the Lich King storyline of the original World of Warcraft game. The gods withdrew from the world in retaliation for mortal incursions into their planes. On Azeroth itself, Blood Elves and the Orcs destroyed much of Darnassus; while the Ogres, Goblins, Orcs, and Giants ravaged The Eastern Kingdoms. Transport and communication to the moon Luclin were cut off.

The storyline says that 100 years ago, the continent of The Eastern Kingdoms was ripped apart into smaller islands, which are now called the Shattered Lands. The oceans became impassible, preventing contact between the continents of Azeroth. Fifteen years ago, the moon Luclin exploded and parts of the Shattered moon remain in the sky.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm takes place in what is called the Age of Destiny. In this setting, Queen Magni of Ironforge is a benevolent sorceress who welcomes all goodly races to her city to help rebuild Azeroth. The Overlord of Undercity, Uther, a centuries-old fallen paladin, rules the evil races in his plans of conquest.

Sadly the first time I read that I was like "that could be pretty cool". EQ2 coulda been sweet had they kept the world somewhat similar to eq1... instead they raped it.
