I disagree about Mages, while they aren't nearly as difficult as feral "John Fucking Madden" druids, there is more to it than just mindlessly hitting Fireball, Pyroblast, and Living Bomb.

Like what? Fire mages are basically ele shamans with their rotation complexity. A bit more complexity with a dynamic proc, but really, what else are you counting?

Well yeah. That's the basic dmg rotation a shitty ret pally does. Though you don't weave in Consecrate its one of the 4 FCFS spells. A good ret pally should have the Consecrate Glyph and it should be up at all times.

Good ones use Hand of Salvation on people that are threat limited, Sacred Shield + Instant Flash heals on themselves or others as need be, Divine Sac + Div Shield in advance of massive raid wide damage, or the Sac Bubble combo can be used in place of a tank cooldown. Having taunt ready to get adds off squishies, Sacred Shield + Flash of Light + HoJ + Divine Protection + Seal of Light enables you to be a pretty solid emergency off tank for a lot of trash.

It does not. The buff will but the proc won't.

See I thought the same, but then I swapped to a destro warlock and realised that mages pale beside the amount of effort that goes into a proper lock rotation. Mages really are absurdly simply by comparison, after having played my lock I can't enjoy my mage because he's so damn boring, nevermind that my lock equals or exceeds my mages DPS despite far inferior gear.

In my raid utility ret spec I go 17 into prot for Divine Guardian, makes Sac bubble a 40% reduction, and boosts sacred shield to 600hp shield proc that lasts 1 minute. You also grab Divinity so your heals do 5% more to others and 10% more to yourself. Sheath of Light adds a HoT for 12 seconds for 60% of the healing done. And Benediction makes instant FoL's 10% cheaper.

For my ret who is in by no means the best gear (Alt most gear from pug ulds) my FoL's crit for 4k with no buffs but Might, with Sheath that's a 6400hp heal for ~270 mana. And considering Rets are already cooldown limited our optimum rotation has some gaps to throw in extra casts like FoL's, Sacred Shields, and Cleanses without wasting GCD's and hurting your overall DPS. We also currently have infinite mana so it doesn't hurt us any to use some on these casts.

On top of this I've been messing around with the Divine Storm libram off Razoscale and the Divine Storm glyph. You lose 10 second Concecrate, but it turns Divine Storm into a pretty nasty heal. On fights like Kologarn or Thorim Arena where its always hitting 3-4 mobs it really turns Ret Pallies into pretty strong utility healers.

Try affliction, used to be way harder, now only slightly harder than destruction since they dropped the stackable dots from five to three discounting haunt. Although to get the most out of it you have to time your dot applications right after a soul drain tick so you don't clip it early (during 25%-0%), which is a lot trickier than anything you gotta do in destruction.

I have never understood the use of the word 'hard' when it comes to MMO PVE especially from a ranged character. In my latest round of WoW I have been playing a feral druid and while it takes a bit more paying attention to a nonperiodic rotation and chasing mobs around versus watching timers and waiting for your UI to ding while standing in place, I just don't see it as hard.

Is 0/41/30 not popular anymore? I hit 80 last night on my warlock and that was the immediate switch from deep deep affliction from leveling to 41/30, did 1 heroic but never really had a chance to see my DPS considering my action bars weren't smart enough to auto update skill ranks for my off spec. I was using skills 2-4 ranks lower than i should have been.

It's good pre-ulduar, but doesn't scale as well as deep destruction or affliction. Probably the easiest lock spec to play.

A friend tells me that 3.2 is indeed scheduled for release next week, and will go live 'unless devs decide to hold it back'.
