'eh, I've just always seen assassins , with comparable loot, doing substantially more dps than just about everyone.

my point being that soloing overworld mobs isn't a terribly good yardstick

They do more DPS (on single mob) if they are allowed to stay behind the mob hacking away, without jousting, debilitating DS and no repositioning all the time.
So they lag behind and bring nothing else worth mentioning for high end game, that's why the assassin in my guild was asked to betray ranger.
So much for the OP class.

Is soloing viable to high levels?

edit: Additionally, are there any classes you guys need or classes that are generally scarce for whatever reason?

Tanks seem to be scarce in general.

It changes daily, and it really doesn't matter. Play whatever you think you'll enjoy through 80 levels, solo or grouped. Any class can solo to 80, some more efficiently than others.

Is there a mod for this game similar to Recount?

Also, looking for an action bar mod that has accurate cooldown counts for abilities. Have tried a few so far and none give me that, from what I can tell.

The normal UI gives cool downs on the icons.

Friend and I are playing on AB again. My monk Soygen is still there, but I'm currently playing a Conjuror named Purplex.

Oh? Hm, guess I'll have to delve deeper into the options!

Anyhow, having a ton of fun so far. Blazing through levels with dungeon-crawl groups, it's pretty awesome.

I'm not sure. It fills the button up as the timer counts down, and if you mouse over it it shows you the refresh.

If I have up to Kunark on my account, do I need to get Shadow Odyssey? Or is that mostly higher level stuff.

The bonus XP is absolutely crazy, especially if you drink a veteral reward XP potion as well. One quick Fallen Gate dungeon run gave me 4 AA and 5 regular levels. Now a 27 Illusionist and 19 Outfitter. Having a lot of fun this go around, we'll see if I can beat my alltime EQ2 record of 34. Heh.

I got my Coercer up to lvl 25 and hit the wall of sucky mid-20s outdoor zones. I know I can get through it if I group and do dungeons, but I wasn't really feeling the Coercer class either. I started up a Bruiser and got him to lvl 22 today. I think my playtime might be better suited to the Bruiser class as they are much more powerful soloers than the Coercer. I'll see how things go once I get to Butcherblock Mountains again.
