Brad McQuaid Site Updated

http://www.bradmcquaid.com

"After the sale, Brad decided to take an extended break from games development and is currently pursuing his hobbies and spending time with friends and family. That said, as of late, he’s starting to get that itch again..."

I thought some may actually be interested seeing this, at the risk of my rep reaching a record low.

Can't wait for the game to hit alpha so Brad can come back and make long winded posts with no substance again about teh visions he had.

And you guys ate it the fuck up. We all did. In my opinion Brad is a really uniquely skilled visionary of sorts, he just shouldn't run his own company. I don't know if I could have done any better in his shoes, I absolutely abhor the business end of things in a corporation.

Not that SOE is the shining beacon of MMO gaming studios at this point, but I would personally become very interested if it was confirmed that Brad is going to get to do what he does best for EQ3 with SOE handling the bullshit.

So you credit the monumental fail of Vanguard on Brad being preoccupied with the business side of things? Sounds like a lame cop out considering he could have had someone else handle this part of the operation, but I suppose his narcissism was the culprit in this situation.

I am still not sure what exactly it was that Brad did best with EQ. Personally I think it was the actual idea of a MUD-going-3D and pushing it through, that was his biggest contribution to the whole thing. Apparently he was the one that sold the whole idea to Smedley back in the day(those confusing SOE/Verant days)after showing of a demo or some.
But I think it was people like Bill Trost(Lead Designer, leveldesigner, the guy behind EQ factions) and other people who fleshed out the game that was EQ.

There is this original "EQ-design" doc at the SOE offices: The Original EverQuest Design Document… «

I so wish I could take a look at that doc and see who actually contributed to that. That is the doc where most of the features should be outlined by someone. Was that someone Brad? If so, then he gets my credit.

EDIT: Mmm, it sais "Brad" written on the cover, so maybe he deserves our kudos.

I didn't say he was preoccupied with it. Obviously he had plenty of time to dream shit up. I said he sucks at it.

Looks more like it was written there as it was his copy during a presentation or something :P

Just saying (not doubting)

QFT. I won't be upset if Brad is working on EQ3.
