+4 Internets | Well, i played and enjoyed VG for the first 2 years of its release. Could it have released better? absofuckinglutely, but i did enjoy the game up until Silius and his fucked up level 55 patch. Thats when i pulled the plug. If he had not done that, i would be playing and raiding right now. I know some people felt like they got "Fucked" or whatever, but i did enjoy the game. I dont have any hate towards Brad. I would seriously look at the game he is making them make my choice. If it works it works, if its bombs, it bombs. Only 2 mmo's have ever held my attention EQ and VG. I have pretty much tried most of them outside of Warhammer.

Meanwhile.... The lies, the deceit, the employee hardship... Is all the same bullshit that he brought into this genre when EQ came about. And it damn near brought down the entire fucking genre with it. Brad McQuaid is the epitome of the Plane of Mischief and the original "Fiery Avenger" quest just as much as he touted Vanguard and suckered thousands and his own employees. In the end, he is and will always be, full of fucking shit. As he has been from the very start of this entire mess. Now let's take the time to dedicate this thread to the real winners of the MMORPG advancement. (Including design, feedback, and where they ended up) Trost, Kendrick, Hartsman, Furor, Tigole. Tons more. But I guarantee you, McQuaid doesn't deserve to be a fucking spot of dust on that list. Last edited by Utnayan; 06-16-2009 at 07:00 PM..

The lying and deceit and whatever, thats not my concern. Thats for Brad to deal with and for Brad to apologize for. He knows what he did. I am not here to judge him as i dont know him, and i am no one to judge anyone, not even people i dont know on this forum that i dont really care for. He's a big boy, he knows what he did wrong and he has to deal with it. I have my own issues in life to deal with. No need for me to piss on anyone here.

+1 Internets | Kendrick was an amazing dev. I haven't seen that name in awhile. His constant and thoughtful communication with the rogue community, back when rogues had pitiful DPS, was one of the reasons I kept playing that class. Did he also have a hand in zone design (or other things)? |

| Kunark and Velious were, with out a doubt, the greatest expansions in EQ of all time. Personally, I think those two expansions were the best of any MMO expansion... ever. Droga will forever be some of my best momories, being an enchanter with a retarded monk, I learned real quick how to CC... It was just an awesome place to grow up, then came Chardok, Seb, and Kasora (SP). Simply put, fucking incredible. Velious... so much win... so many hours of incredible fun. The Dain, Kael Drakkal, ToV, Sleeper's Tomb. Shit, Velious could have been two expos. That, no shit, was the golden age of EQ. Droga... famous last words... "watch this"

It does, however, change the fact that thank Christ someone else took the reigns from this fucking idiot and started making games that developed mechanics that worked. Whether or not you agree with the gameplay itself, at least it fucking works. And that there in lies the shit this asshole decided to drag the genre into to begin with. My point stands: You want to praise McQuaid? Fuck that. Praise the people that rebuilt this genre from the ground up from the 500 foot hole he put it in from the get go. See the names above, and any other names that should be mentioned. As a side note, if you found Vanguard fun on release, you are one of 100,000 that love to stick needles in your dick sideways. I won't critique your sense of fun, but it sure fucking hurts reading about it.

The thing about the fun on release is i never had ctd problem s as ATI video cards were not CTD'ing. It was the Nvidia's that were having the massive problems. IT did not effect me.

| You present no facts. You present nothing of substance. Sure, those of us that are "in the know" understand what you're talking about, even if not necessarily agreeing with you -- but no one else does, and they have no reason to believe anything you type. If you're going to make claims please provide supporting evidence, preferably in link form for the sake of brevity. PS: Much love to Kendrick / John's work; I hope he landed somewhere worthwhile. It was nice to see a passionate player go from beta .5 into a dev position (I have no idea what his work qualifications were). Oh, and thanks for Freebringer =) PPS: If I recall correctly, he was also mostly responsible for Dragon Nec, which I thought was a terrible zone. No cookie for that one. Damn man, asking for facts from Utnayan the VG hater at this point just looks like fucking neutron star-grade density. He was right about VG, all of his doom&gloom was correct, I don't think we need to ask for facts anymore. | |

+16 Internets | Sitting here reading about ToFS made me remember my favorite place in pre-expansion EQ: Castle Mistmoore. That place was just fucking brutal. The trains at the zone, the tight spawn patterns... it was an absolute mess, but it had so much character my buddies and I just kept going back. The bosses were all awesome: the cloaked dhampir, the avenging caitiff, the butler and maid... It was a great tribute to Ravenloft, and a badass experience. Plus, you had a ton of rumors about Mayong himself and whether he really existed, well before all that Darkhollow crap. I remember hearing years ago that he was a boss in beta but they could never get his pathing right or something, and they ended up re-using his model for the Maestro of Rancor. No idea if that was true or not. Speaking of the Maestro, did anyone think Dracula in that shitty Van Helsing movie looked *exactly* like him? :P |
