Beat twice on the "they must have used those animations for Luclin" joke.

I love the way it looks like a player just casts a fireball at Naggy and he falls over. Some poor bastard must have been in for a surprise when he tried that for real.

i got hooked on ativan for a bit. i just took it in small doses though. One of them damn things, and you dont have a fucking worry in the world. lol I haven taken any in almost 2 years though. For the first week or so, i felt like i had to take one, but that wasnt the first time i had to break a drug habit. i was pretty bad in my late teens. So this time it was fairly easy.

Pretty irritating as they talk about the beginnings of EQ and most of the stuff they show is EQ2, "new" character models and some cinematic stuff. Whenever a story about EQ is being told, it should contain Kelethin, Nagafen and the old char models. Somehow it seems to me that in their desire to make everything look "better", they didn't even realize that they made everything look worse and actually destroyed the atmosphere of the game. It could almost be compared to the "enhanced" version of Star Wars with all the superfluous computer generated crap that they added to the movie.

Everquest is certainly not the story of success, it is the story of the downfall of a great game.

Pretty sure there is a disgusting withdrawl potential with opiates. Plus you said you got over how fake it feels, so why fuck around with an absolute top addictive class of drug just because its new to you?
Same reason I do a lot of things, because I like new experiences and I like to explore new states of consciousness. And withdrawals aren't the same thing as a comedown, they only come with chronic use, while a comedown is more or less unavoidable. Anyway this isn't really relevant to the topic at hand.

TBC aside, Northrend/Velious, Elemental Planes, and the Jungle/Kunark themes are fairly standard fantasy stuff; EQ wasn't super origional there either, and its not like Northrend wasn't super-rooted in lore already.

Oh of course not, though there are some fairly obvious nods to Velious in the expansion. I just find it interesting that there's a fairly clear parallel between them.

EQ was the biggest force that lead to games like WoW being possible. Hardly downfall, the fact it is still active while other games coming after it have closed down says a lot. It has declined but but that is more because so many left for new games that were basically EQ clones. The vast majority of the games out there are based on a similar model of gameplay as EQ. Only a handful can really be claimed as being different (EvE for one). This board itself is still active and the only reason there is anything even here is because of that game.

Some people actually prefer the new models. The old ones looked like a cheap Quake game and the fact everything looked like blocks annoyed the hell out of me.

Plus on a highlight reel are you really going to show something clunking around with 1999 graphics when you want to get people excited about it? Nah, your going to show flash and glitz. This isn't the documentary, wait and see what they finally produce.
