Go affliction until 51 and focus on spellpower, they have that now, it increases the power of your spells

In EQ its actually fun to me to just find the best exp spots and kill shit.
I think this is because, even though a lot of people bang on about the relative pedestrian pace of the combat, it felt more involved because you could see exactly how much damage you were doing each swing. After all, what else is there to do while you're auto-attacking other than read combat/chat?

I dunno.

Affliction until 50, then respec demo for felguard, imo. That's how I've always done my warlocks anyway. Focus on stacking spellpower.

I have to ask, warlockS? You make it sound as though you've levelled multiple warlocks and not just a couple? I struggle with the thought of levelling a new class up, I can't imagine levelling one I've done before without a change in circumstances (Dollhouse type wipe etc )

Three of them to be precise. Don't ask me how many mages I've levelled either There's a pretty long explanation for why I've rerolled so many times, involving american raid times, unofficial australian servers, lack of server transfers for the first few years of the games life, friends rerolling, the launch of the official oceanic servers and multiple instances of purchasing new accounts, levelling to 70 and then realising that I still didn't like the TBC endgame for the entirely of BC and selling the account off again for weekend funds.

No, the only thing been proven is that WoW keeps growing: it grew just fine (read: amazingly well) when it was a lot less friendly towards players (read: the masses) and it keeps growing nowadays just because it's easy enough to pick up and do some shit in it.

If Blizzard would have stuck to their design philosophy of the 2004-2005 era, the game would still have its bazillion players, period. Don't be fooled by anything else you read.
There is also another big, huge, gargantuescan factor to its success: no valid competition. All the other MMOs are inferior at least in one aspect if not multiples and Blizzard capitalized on this.

There is NOTHING indicating that the more friendly raids did anything to enlarge the user base, in fact I suppose there are more players that unsub for a while between major content patches than there were before WotLK. For a lot of people an expansion like WotLK is a disaster, others love it, whatever you think about it, I bet you're still subbed or will come back at one point.

With my limited playing time of today, I still try out other MMOs, but I keep a WoW sub running all the time just because it feels good to log in every now and then, blast some shit solo or in a pug and log off saying "that was fun".
I know I can find groups, I know I can pug raids, I know I can solo, in other games it's not like that, not always at least.

I still like EQ2, but none of my friends play it and I'm an EU player with chars on a US server, that makes it a lonely experience, I dabble in Lotro and I find it fun when grouped, in solo it's terrible, I mean devastatingly horrible and unfun, plus pickup groups are rarely good in that game, so I play pretty much only when my friends are on.

For all the rest, there is WoW: sure sometimes you find a bad pug, sometimes you find idiots pouring from every corner, but sometimes you can also find excellent players that automatically end up in your friends list. I have yet to find an excellent player in Lotro and they are quite rare in EQ2 (they tend to stick to their closed guilds).

Another cool option would be similar to RAF if you could "grant" xp to an alt by doing shit on your main, even at highly reduced rates. ie every mob I kill on my 80 grants me 10xp that I can grant to any of my alts. Maybe it stops at level cap-5 or whatever, but anything to let me skip the tedium of playing undercap characters.
I loved levelling in WoW, I did it many times and only recently it became boring, but the funny part is that the most boring levelling comes in Northrend, while Vanilla and TBC are just fine with the 30% exp boost.

I wish I could partially level my alts by playing a main, especially for some level ranges I hate, or start a character at 55 (any class), I wish also I could play my ally chars with horde chars, at least in group and raid instances, I wish I could have cosmetic slots for gear so I wouldn't look like Robocop in raid gear... the list is long, but it's pointless typing it all out.

EDIT: Fuck me and my walls of text... really.

Honestly, I think that's one of the bigger factors, there's just nothing else out there to play that doesn't either suck majorly or some way or have completely dead servers.

If you have no trouble keeping the pirates at bay, the Zygor guide Tuco mentioned recently is damn good. Unlike Carbonite, Questhelper etc it doesnt steal your megahurtz, it simply gives you arrows to follow to get from A to B as fast as you can stand but also has handy info on what exactly you need to do, where the mob/npc/doodad etc is. I'd only recommend it if you are on your 18th level up etc as it pretty much makes it even more whack a mole than it already is. The 21st April version runs fault free for me, the one linked before misbehaved rather badly with its custom version of Cartographer.

If you prefer to view the scenery a little more then carbonite isn't bad, if you have a beast of a pc and don't mind crashing like fuck in Dalaran (I havent tried it for 2-3 months so might be fixed/better by now) Questhelper is a popular alternative.

If you have a 2nd monitor/pc or don't mind lots of alt-tabbing, simply following Jame's level guides is a good option as they are very well written and pictured : World of Warcraft Pro | Brings Game Experience to You!

p.s. If this is you being sarcastic again, please throw yourself off of the nearest bridge

I've found QH isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. I can actually go into dal without disabling it, for starters, and if I'm feeling lazy the framerate hit in raids is bearable.

I've been toying around with that Zygor addon linked in the other thread. That + Cartographer = lulz. Follow the arrows and auto-level basically. You don't really NEED any other addons to level, before 60 you will barely fill one bar with mandatory skills.

I forgot to mention Zygor even has class quests built into it, it pretty much is an all in one and goes up to 80. Only quirk I've seen so far is the odd quest needing to manually be bumped to the next step as it didn't recognise you running over the right spot but thats very rare, for the most part it auto updates like a champ.

I'm using nUI out of laziness, will mix and match my own at 80 but nui + zygor = click click bang bang = levels.

shit, auto level works for me up to 58 ay least; I haven't done much tbc so might switch add-ons after I hit that with a character or two.

I use Carbonite + Tour Guide. There are additional guides out there you can bring into Tour Guide that supports RAF leveling. James leveling guide may also exist as a Tour Guide file -- not sure, never checked.
