| So I'm going to hit 70+ this weekend with my partner, trying to figure out the fastest way to get passable gear by the time we're 80. Can we start running anything useful on the way up to 80 instance wise? Once we cap would it be possible to jump right into pvp and try to get a set of some sort or would we need to gear up more in PVE first? Team is me(DK) and a druid. She's worried about switching from her leveling build(feral) to resto and not having any gear to heal instances or pvp. I assume there's some way we could rectify that pretty quickyl, I'm just not sure how to go about it.

You can jump straight into PvP, but be prepared to get your ass handed to you more often than not in Arena. Still, you'll quickly get the points to buy unrated items. You can craft several (BoE) blue pieces with resilience, though almost nobody wears them. Most people just grind out Wintergrasp and battlegrounds.

| I hit 80 this morning, don't you mean Exalted as there's no epics I can see at Revered unless I R Blind.

Also, the gear isn't the worlds greatest but the chest items (cloth or leather) and the weapon sold by the Kalu'ak quartermasters aren't bad places to start for your girlfriend when it comes to gathering caster gear. The chest only requires honored, the weapon revered and the faction is really easy to level. In fact, Wyrmrest and Kirin Tor both also have blue items that she should be able to buy easily enough without having to grind too much. Again, they're not amazingly wonderful and not epics but if she's starting with nothing then they shouldn't be overlooked. You could also start saving up for a Titansteel Guardian for when you hit 80, it's a nice weapon and shouldn't be insanely expensive.

If you have the occasion, do them. It's always useful to have seen them once before you re-run them at 80. But otherwise, don't try to get a group - it's far too much time consuming, and fraught with peril. If you are looking for PvP, then I suggest getting some crafted entry-level pvp gear. You have a blue "level 78 req" armor set, plus a couple stuff (cloak, rings, etc) Armor - Items - World of Warcraft Your problem is getting weapons. There's no pvp weapon available unless you're doing Arena and high ranked. Period. They removed previous weapons last season, instead of dropping the arena ratings. So, you will have to gear in PvE. Your best bet is to start running the Argent Crusade Tournament as soon as you hit 78 (I think it's when the first quests become available), and get their epics, or run some reput, or do Heroic dungeons to get emblems: Weapons - Items - World of Warcraft (you can also try to purchase weapons from a smith or the AH)

| For a warlock who just hit 80, is it better to go deep destro or 41 demo/30 destro for FG/incin? I've seen a lot of locks with both, but I'm not sure which comes ahead early in the endgame before I gear up a bit. Also, what's the basic rotation/playstyle for each? it's been ages since I played a lock in endgame, let alone as destro. Also did they end up buffing tailoring to be as good as the other enchants for caster DPS? I already have 375 tailoring so I was thinking since they're nerfing JC I might go tailoring then do inscription as my second so I can skip the sons of hodir bullshit. | Sorry about that. WG = Wintersgrasp, the BG that you can do every 2 1/2 hours. Honor is like currency now, yes. The old marks for AV, AB, WSG, Eye of the Storm and Strand of the Ancients can now be turned in for honor which you can then use to buy gear. Rings, neck and cloaks in particular, like: Deadly Gladiator's Band of Ascendancy - Item - World of Warcraft Wintersgrasp has its own separate marks of honor that can be used at a vendor in the little fortress there when your faction controls the zone. Things like Titan-forged Leather Chestguard of Salvation - Item - World of Warcraft. There are also items that you can buy with honor but require a specific arena rating and items that can only be bought with arena points that also require a specific rating. Just to make things more complicated, controlling Wintersgrasp opens up a raid zone called Vault of Archavon. There is a 10-man and 25-man version and the two bosses in there both also drop PvP gear as well as PvE tier items. Last edited by Azzikai; 07-03-2009 at 02:51 PM.. |

| Ah that makes sense, thanks. I quit around the time Zul'Gurub came out so I'm behind the times. So am I right in assuming that, aside from honor earned, the older battlegrounds are pretty worthless at this point?

| If you only did them for the marks required to buy PvP gear before then, yeah, they're pretty useless outside of getting some extra honor via trading them in. Unless you want to grind their associated factions or want to buy a PvP mount or actually find them fun, that is ![]() |

| Yeah they're fun, I was just wondering if doing them every so often while we quest around would accomplish anything. I didn't know you could trade the marks in for honor.
