Just announced during the Sony Press Conference as the new MMO Square-Enix has been working on.

It was glorious.

Looked to have the same races as FFXI, but it's a different world than Vana'diel called Eorzea. Not sure what that means!

Wow this thread was created fast. I think it looks pretty damn sweet personally. Will probably be the reason I finally buy a PS3.

I figured I'd go ahead and create it for speculation since it's now official.

I'm thinking it'll be a bit more westernized than FFXI was, and hopefully it'll launch in Japan and the US at the same time, or have separate servers.

I hope they do same servers, same release date. The culture clash that occurred between English and Japanese players was interesting. The only downside is the location of the servers. Latency was very noticeable in FFXI.

So ... if they tone down the grind, make US/Euro servers, and make decent PC controls, what's the chance of coming close to WoW subs?

I never understood why there was no US/Euro servers for FF online. They sell a lot of copies of all their other games here.

I still have a ton of friends that talk about FFXI like it was the second coming of Jesus. I never played it, but I've only heard rave, nostalgic reviews.

It was the only game to ever give me the "Everquest Freshness" feel again. The rest of them felt easy. FFXI was brutal, unforgiving and required grinding. But, it rewarded you with an incredible online social experience and epic amounts of drama that kept you coming back for more.

People are stupid. Many FFXI players are incredibly stupid. Watching them be retards was funny.
