![]() So, with this armory system I could say be soloing as a fighter. Finish a fight, throw a staff in my hand and blamo turn into a White Mage, heal myself then go back to being a fighter again? Interesting...

| I really hope NA has their own servers. It's bullshit in FFXI when the JP controls the fucken economy and everyone has to play catchup / work their ass off for gil. Well at least on Pandemonium. |

My best guess is that this is unlikely. Sucks, I agree. One of the lead producers said, in a Japanese interview a year or two ago, that they saw it as a financial benefit that different parts of the world use the same servers at different times of the day, while other nations sleep and that they were unlikely to change this model for future MMOs. It's not set in stone, but at the time it made a large impression. It's this point I am most critical about. SE have announced that it will be launching simultaneously in Europe, NA and Japan, however. I don't think they realize how big a point this is against them in consumers minds.

After about the 2nd year of NA release, NAs curbstomped them and they never recovered. The entire game is NA dominated at this point, especially endgame. If I'm playing I won't even accept a JP invite anymore because their ideas of playing are so backwards and the pts are almost universally horrible. They have a philosophy of suck that they embrace. So I wouldn't worry about 14...whether JPs are on the server or not, they're not going to be a dominant force.

| Vinen and Grizzle, are you still both playing XI? I don't mind being in the same server as them. What I hated was the huge heard start they had. Looks like it would not be an issue if I stuck around, but it really was a deal breaker kind of thing. First impressions and all that. |

| HorrorFK | Just needed to write up a nice textwall to shove down my throat (later on when I eat my words) I started my venture in the 2003 release date. I joined a linkshell early on, left, and built a dominate, high-end linkshell by fall of '04. After successfully leading and later co-leading for 3 years, I finally quit and went back to my original roots of EverQuest. I never had a single urge to return to FFXI other than friends (which you can use for any MMO). The game never gave me that urge to go back and explore again; or to raid. The gameplay was fine in its original form; such as, before mobs depopped, pre-patched fishing, and campaign/besieged. The AuctionHouse has always been rock-hard, as well as the subjob system. However, there were too many hidden features and secrets within the game. I mean, fucking christ, people are still trying to kill Absolute Virtue after 3 years. There isn't much progression, either. The game is simply regurgitates itself in a mindless fashion (what was the last HNM released? Ixion and Sandworm?). One of the best pieces of armor is still dropping from a mob released in late '03/04. I mean, there is obviously going to be new content and a large change to the system. But, after experiencing the tactics SquareEnix has used on its player base (and we all know how ultimately bad the customer service is), what exactly is driving people to play FFXIV? and has anyone ever returned to FFXI after quitting? Disclaimer: MUCH more I can gripe about in the game. I just wanted to tone down on the ffxi talk and get to the point.

+7 Internets | Surprised you mention you liked the auction house system considering it's one of the biggest pieces of garbage I've ever had the displeasure of using. On that note though, I returned to FFXI several time. Mostly it was just to play with friends. I mean, in WoW if you quit and come back in 6 months god knows who will be on your server.. but if you quit in FFXI chances are 90% of the people were still there doing the same thing everyday just as when you quit. |
