| Stop running back to old times | Final Fantasy XIV Video Interview - Final Fantasy XIV - Kotaku Pretty much just confirming what has been said or hinted at. I find it very interesting how there will be no leveling/experience system. Sounds a lot like UO's style, which I loved. Really can't wait ><. |

+6 Internets | Hm... so instead of classes, your weapon decides what skills you have? We need more information, of course, but I wonder how armor would come into play. If anyone can use any weapon, then could anyone use any armor? And why would you use light armor over heavy, etc etc. |

+56 Internets | Maybe armor determines defensive abilities and weapon determines offensive abilities? Light Armor=Crowd Control/Caster style defenses Medium Armor=Healing/Evasion Heavy Armor=Strong Personal Defenses Dunno.

| Only problem I had with FFXI is the finding people to level with. You had to be really persistent and convince players, Japanese and Americans, to join you. It worked most of the time if you're a tank(nin, pld) but as for other classes, it was really difficult to get in or group started. The level grind was really slow as well. Note i played during the 3rd expansion and dropped off after that. Coming from someone who really enjoyed the game and had nearly 7mil gil at it's prime, I'll definitely give this a try. We'll see how Diablo 3 does as well. |

| A Bearded Gnome | So FF XIV will be a macro program fest now? Great...any hope I had for this game went out the window.

+39 Internets | There's no levels so obviously it's a macro fest, there has been and will be only 2 ways to do games, levels or skill-based macroing, it's common knowledge. Edit: Sarcasm, obviously. Last edited by Pyros; 08-04-2009 at 05:55 PM.. |

| A Bearded Gnome | I'd be surprised if they went with a time based one. We'll see I guess. Time based is nice, but alot people will bitch "You can never catch up!" blah blah blah. It all depends on they implement it. Macro grinds are a horrible system.

| It's going to be 'not XP' in the same way that FFIX/FFT/etc are 'not XP', I'd guess. There's going to be some form of points you get (from mobs, quests or what have you) to unlock abilities from wielded items. But they won't call it experience. |

+10 Internets | Reminds me a bit of Lineage 2, where the crafter is an actual class. Maybe they'll do the points similar to it too, where its not direct exp but you gain points from monsters to buy your skills.
