| Illusionist was fun to play until I started raiding. My wrist hurts just thinking about all that button mashing. Illusionists have an AA line that speeds up your casting refreshes the more you cast the quicker you can cast. This sounds great in theory but when you get on a high HP mob it's painful. ![]() That and at least when I played nobody used CC. (Fay time frame) Normal groups pulled everything into camp and just kill it all at the same time. There was only one instance that I can remember where I even got to mez mobs and that was in Nizara. (That zone required CC at the time I played) |

+32 Internets | They nerfed avoidance tanking a long time ago, so monks are basically shit. DPS sure, but there are tons of better options for DPS, same thing goes for tanking. I haven't played in about a year now, but I'm pretty sure that you're going to want to stay away from the monks. If you want to do melee DPS, look at the rogues. Caster DPS is wizard for single targets, warlocks for AE, but f AE. If you want to tank, it's Guardians overall, Zerkers for AE taunts (again, F AE, Guardians win). Edit: ^yeah, I liked my enc a lot, was good for solo, but shitty in groups. CC was non existent, and it's a shame. I'm probably going Fury this time...has anyone played one before? How are they in groups as the main healer? |

As far as utility classes go, from what I understand bards are teh suck to level up with while chanters are easy mode. Chanters also do way more dps than bards. You wont be gimped as long as you don't roll a brawler.

+41 Internets | I did Illusionists last time as well. I loved my power soloing (had come from a guardian), but when I went to dungeons with group the CC aspect was lost and it made me lost interest a bit in the class, then eventually the game itself. I've done ranger until about 20 and it was okay but I felt pretty weak without a group as soloing was such a pain with the bow if something didn't land. Before that I was a bruiser, which was actually kind of fun, despite all the keys. Though that's out the window now clearly. |

| If you don't care about raiding, every class is great. If you want to end up raiding, don't pick Druids, Brawlers, or Summoners. If you want to easily end up raiding go with a Bard, Enchanter(they don't do CC, they just DPS, even with all the CC abilities they have.....), Shaman, or Cleric(Inq preferred).

| Do bards have an interesting play style? Is it button mashing to try to roll multiple songs at once? Or basically just turn on a song and go type of thing? Thinking of trying a troubador or dirge. I assume they suck at solo'ing? |

Solo wise I did great on normal mobs with lifetaps and snares + bow kiting, and ^^ were mostly doable with luck and room to move but most ^^^ group mobs were completely out of the question. You don't need them leveling up, but it sucks not being able to solo some old content or for loot if you stumble over a rare. I'd love to return to EQ2 but I'm still playing WoW actively and just returned to WAR part time with a couple friends... hard finding the time for 2 games let alone 3. Edit: Again, 2 expansions old info, but its also great playing a bard if you're a cheap bastard and want to outrun on foot all the people with their fancy mounts without having to spend any plat.

| Could pretty much bowkite down anything on a dirge provided it doesn't nuke your balls off, it just takes forever. But as far as playability in groups/raids I really enjoyed playing the dirge the timing CAs between auto attack rounds really makes a huge difference in dps between button mashers and people that are actually competent and dirges really do quite decent dps once you get geared properly. The thing that I couldn't stand about the class though is on raids you're basically turned into combat rez bitch as the other classes that can do it are usually busy healing so it kills any chance you have of realistically showing up on the parses where you could. |

| How about Shadowknights? I remember reading that they were pretty overpowered at one time. For someone that may be solo'ing to max level, would they be a better class to roll instead of Dirge? Are they massively represented at high level though? Thanks for the info guys. |

+32 Internets | For those PM'ing me, this is what I have class wise. Also, I don't expect to make it beyond 2 weeks, so don't count on me to organize anything! Ham: undecided, maybe INQ. Cyni: looking like SK or dirge. Adam12: Dirge or Fury, not sure yet. Slytin: SK or necro. |

+42 Internets | You guys started leveling? Supposedly this game is more fun in groups, only have played the trial a bit solo but gave up rather fast due to classes being a bit dull at low lvl(I guess it gets at least somewhat better later). So I might be interested in giving this a try for a couple of weeks or whatever, see if the pve is any good. |
