Haha my bad, I liked Velious over Luclin.
Like everybody.

Luclin was the damn Planes stuff.
Luclin was the moon, plane stuff was PoP

Killing giants all day long.
That was velious.

Not really all that fun to me, but a lot of people remember luclin over anything else
Most only remember not being able to play for some time at the release, ugly new models, a shard for VT not dropping, and billions hp mobs in there.
But most people remember original/Kunark/Velious.

All this talk about ice weapons being uploaded got me confused :P
Not sure what are these ice weapons, but you are sure confused
If you really played EQ1, I don't know what drug you take but stop it now it is very bad for your memory
To be honest, it is kinda scary to read that on FoH.

i always liked velious the most out of all the expansions, including kunark, which is kinda weird for me to say since i was a wizard and we were completely fucked by the velious expansion (nothing like hitting mobs with your most powerful spell for 70dmg). SoV was the most fun i ever had playing EQ.

never played EQ2, it always had the reputation of being the frank stallone of the MMO world.

Velious easily had more character than the other expansions... hell maybe more than a lot of games, considering how much I remember of it. The first time you fought Vindicator and was like wtf, mobs are this tough? THen you had statue, then the first time Avatar spawned and you thought he wouldn't be much harder... oops!

Also places like Sleeper, Kael, killing Dain cocksucker, ToV (fuck Aaryonar and Vyemm), phat lootz dispenser Vulak'Aerr, Mischief, etc.

agree. also, velk's lair is still one of my all time favorite zones in any game, ever. i remember going through that zone the first time with some of my guildies (before it became a hot zone for exp) and walking across those platforms, trying not to slide off and my bard friend saying "holy shit, there's a fucking castle up here!"

ToV and farming Sleepers tomb non-stop and cutting lesser guilds throats as we rushed by em to kill shit while their in there little hiding spot in ToV. Shit was great, most memorable time in EQ personally. I dont believe the current crop of designers could ever pull off the same kind of effort that went into the original Luclin. A nostaliga expansion would be kind of sweet, for like the first month. But then Id burn out just cause I know the end of it. I know what to expect. Im one of those people that stays away from Allakazam w/e just so it doesnt spoil it for me. I totally understand what people meant by having different difficulties within the same dungeon w/o a Hard mode / easy mode. I remember being in Lguk FINALLY having the opportunity to farm the sash. Looking back on that damn belt now, in comparison to shit that came out in Kunark. That and Jboots was the most sought after biggest pos ever. Yet, when I got em I was ecstatic. Anyone whos been there and done the same thing, remembers exactly what Im talking about. It was the nights of camping from one spot to the next getting that much more powerful in the same f'n dungeon that probably made those items that much more worth it. Not to mention you had to wait for an empty spot that you class could fill to get into those groups. Hell, when I was dual wielding ykesha's and had my sash. I "thought" I was the top shit on my server. Fennin Ro... man, the drama on that server was ridiculously fun. Anyways, all that other shit aside. From a money stand point, Luclin is where its at. Not f'n Negga city.
Can I buy some fucking paragraphs please?

Was there a single dev that was responsible for the horrendous spam combat system? This game has a lot of good features...except it's combat; which is the make or break part unfortunately.

The Tenth Ring war was epic. To this day that is my favorite event in any video game I've ever played.

Those were the days

Combat system is really only bad for melee. Most spell casters run with about half the abilities (that they use) compared to a melee.

This might seem nitpicky, but honestly the reason I couldn't play a caster was the "in combat" stance changing.

I'd cast something and then my wizard feels the need to squat with his legs apart and pull out his staff, which he then twirls around like a retard with subsequent casts.

I know it's small, but it seriously ruined it for me, haha.

I played an assassin for a year and the combat never bothered me. I also was a monk and bruiser, still never bothered. I think i had more fun dpsing in EQ2 than in WoW thats for sure.

I think its just been compounded over time with haste, spell haste, recast reduction AAs, buffs like Time Compression and everything else under the sun. It has gotten far worse as the game has progressed.

It's simple, your mage is just Waiting for the Recon to show up.
