I weep for no World of Starcraft and the potential there...I know it's been talked about as being a new franchise but I still had hopes for World of Starcraft

Kotaku - Blizzard's Next Online Game Is Completely Original - world of starcraft

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Dreams of World of StarCraft are dashed as a blue poster in the World of Warcraft forums confirms that Blizzard's next massively multiplayer online game is part of a brand new franchise.

Responding to a forum post suggesting that there was no new online game coming from Blizzard because they hadn't begun advertising it yet, Blizzard poster Zarhym explains that the game is a new franchise being created entirely from the ground up.

We have nothing to advertise for the new MMO because it's a shell of a game thus far. We've already stated it'll be a brand new franchise, which means the lore, art, and game play are being developed entirely from scratch. It's an overwhelming process, but a process through which we excel. Our track record supports this.

He mentions that Blizzard had already stated this, but it's news to us. Consider it stated. Disappointing news for those hoping for a massively multiplayer StarCraft or Lost Vikings title, but it'll be nice to see what Blizzard does with its first new IP in eleven years.

How can they say they excel at something that they haven't done in a decade? (building a game from the ground up)

I don't think blizzard has had an original game yet.

tho they did really do a number converting starcraft to its current form from orcs in space.

Back to Blizzcon topic... ugh... 1mn between refreshes of the ticket page, I entered the queue... at position 10341. Considering that, by the ticker, there's about 4500 or 5000 tickets top in this batch... not good.

Hmmm, what venue can they get that hosts 50,000 people?

lol yeah I went to the blizzard buy tickets page at 9:55am, kept refreshing until it let you buy tickets at 10am, entered Q at position 8400 (LOL), currently at 7400 at only 19% of stock left. pretty sure all the sales have been 5x to people who want to resell too.

oh well, at least I own activision stock, makes me feel like I own part of a crack dealership or something

Definitely was a ton of x5 sales for resale if they sold out of batch one in not even ONE HOUR. (Blue posts announcing sale and sellout were roughly 30mins apart, plus or minus 15 minutes for actual sale launch.)

Problem with Blizzcon is that even if they had a venue that could hold 100,000 it'd probably still sell out :/

It's not one hour. If you didn't get in during, like, the first 30s, you were too late.
