Check your accounts by logging into the Freerealms website with your SOE account name. I never got an Email invite and I found out lastnight by plugging in all 3 of my SOE accounts that I was in Beta already. (God only know how long)

From what little I saw last night this game has the potential to be huge with kids.

Yup.

I have four daughters aged 16, 12, 10 and 5. I'm afraid; very afraid.

Its not the membership charges that worry me; its the cards. As I've spoken on a number of times, they did a real number on a lot of people with Legends of Norrath. Expect this to be worse.

I can almost guarantee there will be ultra rare items that kids will want, which you'll have to spend $100-$200 bucks to get.

I doubt they'd be that daft, the Club Penguins of the world know its better to keep up a steady small drain instead of hope for a one off bigger killing.

And that's when you say "tough shit, you'll live" to them instead of giving them everything they want like some douche bag parents do these days -- not saying you're one of the parents mind you.

Then a week later they'll have forgotten all about that item and start begging you for the next one. :P

Thanks for the negs because you can't control your children. lulz

As a parent you are going to be saying tough shit a lot in this game unless you fork out the membership fee. I have been playing only a couple hours and I am already annoyed with all the cool stuff I can't do as a non member!

I would think it'd be easy saying "tough shit" to a child asking for $100 worth of generally worthless shit. :P

It's insidious though. They don't ask you for $100 bucks. They asks for one or two packs - then they get real excited, like its Christmas, their little faces lighting up like a neon light.

Then they open the pack and its another pile of crud.

And their little faces look like their kitten just died.

etc etc .......
