But Hodir/Thorim are pretty even, so are Mimi and Yogg+1. I think Freya is by far the hardest now.

this is the order I more than agree with personally. Mainly cause we can 1-2 shot Hodir hard mode every week, got it the first time after only about 45 min of wiping. Thorim hard mode is a different story just due to him getting to 12 stacks at around 20% because people are failing to lightning. (who strangely enough dont fail to hodir) or tanks dying prematurely because healers failing to lightning.

But its mostly lightning fails.

The exact order of difficulty that can apply to everyone in the world simultaneously is very important. Can we get a vote thread up perhaps? Then we can see what the majority thinks, and possibly sticky it for posterity.

0 lights 3 drakes Loken is the hardest boss in game. End of discussion.

To tell you the truth, at least for us, the hardest boss is the apathy boss. Trying to get 25 people to log on for a night of wiping on hard mode freya, is nearly impossible now that everyone's gone 'soft' after Naxx. People know they can log on Tuesday, clear all the easy front half hard modes, then not log on till monday, to force us to do easy modes to clear before the reset. The bads get their loot and only have to raid twice a week.

Don't give loot to people that don't show up on Wednesdays? Seems a pretty easy solution to me.

Had that problem before, did the same thing Vardisk mentioned. Don't show up you risk going inactive, which means you get replaced and until you get replaced you cant get an item over someone whose active. Fixes the problem pretty fast.

Problem occurs though when we're already shorthanded and can't fill our raids. There are two ways for a person to go. They can either kick themselves into shape and show up more, because they want loot, or they can b). say fuck it, I don't want to play anymore anyway, and if I'm not going to get loot...

Right now, people are leaning more towards option b). Its a failure cascade right now.

It'd be interesting to know how much of the issue is the (legitimate) "going soft" problems, and how much is that since things are so easy, people who want to achieve have less incentive to find each other and to build guilds that share similar wants. Rather, they simply stay in their current guild and snooze through the content with the mouth breathers.

Whats up with the lack of Rogues lately? A buddy of mine is in a guild that has 3, only like one of them actually plays.

Not to mention I haven't seen a rogue since I've come back. Then again, I'm playing a DK on a server I've never played on before so that might be part of the issue.

Rogues are facing a very smiliar issue that other "pure" dps classes are experiencing lately: The fact you can roll a "hybrid" and perform several roles, including dps, just as well as a pure. I don't want to start another debate about it, but the differences are very minor with most players, so there has been some decline in classes such as rogue. Only decent-great players really bring out the differences in dps, the average players will do about the same really. On my server there is a huge population of paladins, dks and druids now. Locks and Mages are still fairly well represented because of their utility, but hunters and rogues seem to be on the downturn. This is all anecdotal, however.

I see. I figured that would happen eventually. Usually does in most MMORPGs.

Rogue also rides the soul-crushing "How will we be raped in PVE for having Stealth in PVP this time?" rollercoaster of balancing. Most PVE realms seem to have about half as many Rogues as the PVP realms do.

There's a huge lack of rogues. Most guilds have 1-2, despite them being the top DPS class right now. I would have rolled a rogue again when I rerolled horde but luckily I secured a raiding spot as PvE Ret, because that slot seems incredibly hard for guilds to fill with competent players.
