Unholy is the best at low gear levels for DPS. Blood requires many many Ulduar upgrades to be good(Armor Pen gear pretty much) and Frost requires the Ulduar Sigil and some pretty solid gear to pull decent numbers too. Unholy works with about anything though, and scales very well as long as you just add more str.

Fuck, wish I knew about that RAF thing, I don't even have BC. I just resubbed my ancient account and have been gimping it up. Hell, that bonus sounds so nice it might be worth it to just buy the vanilla+BC battlechest thing and start over on that account, be about the same price as just a BC box =\ My highest character was only level 50 or something, and long before BC. I've got a warrior up to 45 now from scratch (could be 60 with RAF, goddamnit) and have been doing pretty with with Prot so far. I tried a bit of pvp, but gave up trying to fight dual-wielded binds-to-account weapons with x2 crusader. Is there any hope in doing some pvp pre-80, or is it all just "who can cram more gold into their twink"?

Judging by this thread I'm in for a hell of a time trying to do any 5-10-25 man stuff once (or if) I make it to 80 though.

PvP pre80 is pretty much useless unless you also play a twink, or play a powerful class very well. Prot warrior(or any warrior) isn't one of them. Locks, DKs, Retadins and Rogues are probably the only viable PvPing low lvl class even with quests greens/blues. But not in BGs, it's full of twinks.

Leveling, even the old way, isn't that slow. I lvled a hunter like a couple months ago on an alliance server with 0 backup(since most of my chars are horde) and didn't want to RAF since I wasn't sure I was gonna actually finish lvling it. It wasn't all that bad at all, especially when you install all the addons that just show you arrows on where to go so you can level while not actually caring about it/watching TV.

Yea, that's basically what I've been doing. Carbonite does most of my leveling for me it seems. It just seems like such a sweet deal though, as I'm gonna have to drop ~30$ to buy burning crusade anyway, spending the extra 10$ to get another account and triple xp for both accounts seems impossible to say no to. Giving up a 45 warrior and the ~200 gold I've got saved up seems like a fair trade to make basically as many alts as I want at triple xp.

You have to remember the 2nd account only stays linked with RAF for like 3months, and you need to relvl new chars on both accounts to benefit from it, if you're already at 45 it's very limited in my opinion, you're more than halfway to outlands. Also RAF stops at 60.

Damn, fucked up a bit tonight but I thought it was funny. I had to be the offtank for heroic patchwerk. All was well, my HP was pretty high and I knew the fight so I thought everything was cool. When he started hateful striking me for 36k I immediately knew something was wrong. We lasted quite awhile too but both me and the other DK offtank eventually got one-shotted from full.

I don't know how it happened but we were both offtanking in blood presence, yuck. I just thought it was hilarious that we both managed to be complete failures and in the same spec.

You don't necessarily notice right away, and usually too late. Happened to me quite a few times. I tanked KT entirely in blood presence, tanked mimiron P1 in blood presence(bitching about ppl because they were overaggroing too), tanked Hodir while not crit capped twice, tanked kelthuzad, patchwerk, gluth, razorscale and freya adds in DPS gear. Out of these, some actually worked out fine though. Our first hodir hard mode kill I wasn't crit immune for example, our first freya kill I was tanking the adds in DPS gear(then again my DPS gear is like 34k hp or whatever).

Back when I played my prot war, that pretty much never happened, cause when you didn't have a shield on, you'd notice by having all your abilities greyed out, or when you weren't in def stance, you had a different bar and couldn't shield block. On a DK the difference can only be noticed by the size of the hits you take ^^.

Annoyed with my DK Tank. We've been getting nerfed consistently. Perhaps the nerfs aren't uncalled for, but it's quite frustrating to play knowing you're a shell of your former self just 2-3 patches back.
