8am EST is still going to be what, midday or so Euro time...so theres not going to be 'much' raiding actively then either. Oceanic seems the best bet.

Doesn't have to be 8am, maybe 11 or 12, just looking for something early morning est time.

I just did a timed H CoS, first time tanking the instance and we completed it and someone got the drake. I had heard it was tough but it was so ridiculously easy.. like all the heroics are from what I'm finding.

Ya, the first time I tanked a timed CoS i was worried, but we engaged the drake boss with like 6 minutes left on the timer. I also did the entire infinite dragonflight part in Unholy Presence (oops).

As long as the tank knows the fights and the healer is conscious heroics aren't hard at all. **

Unrelated to Ulduar but I'm wondering about the exp to gold conversion at level 70 and 80.

It seems you only get around 1g for 20k exp at level 80 which is nothing considering killing 3-5 mobs in slave pens will net you that amount. Is the conversion rate much better at level 70? (pre-wotlk).

I'm thinking about not upgrading to WOTLK until i've finished all the TBC quests if there's a difference.

They changed the way they did the xp to gold calculation for WOTLK, seems they didn't want too much gold getting out there :

1. Gray quests do not give any gold beyond that what is advertised in the quest text. So if a gray quest normally gives 45s and 600xp it'll give you 45s at level 80.

2. We know from wowwiki and various other sources as well as personal experience that 1xp is worth 6c at level 80. so for every 1k xp you can expect 1k * 0.0006 = 60s.

3. Most northrend quests give between 20k and 25k xp at level 80 depending on your zone meaning you can expect between 12g and 15g per quest excluding any gold you may be able to churn out by selling item quest rewards.

4. And this is an important one. If a quest says you normally get 5g and 25k xp you will only get the XP->gold conversion and not the base quest reward at level 80. So you will get 15g from this quest instead of 20g which is different from how it worked in TBC (*citation needed).

So basically, to maximise gold, make sure you finish off decent profitable quests before you level up to where they are gray.

Sadly there aren't many noonish raiding guilds, I've looked for a long time since I would much prefer that time to evenings when wife & kids are home. I've found 2-3 afternoon raiding guilds but they are on crap servers usually, one is at Exiled From Hell - Home but again crap server (may not even be afternoon guild anymore).

I'm on blackrock and tan do gi la and SG Vigilantes raid around 5-6am pacific time (too early for me), both are pretty good having gotten both proto drakes pre 3.1 and clearing Ulduar I believe right now. However both are mostly Singapore/Asian guilds so you have the mix of people who chatter away in vent in japanese/chinese/etc, but on the plus side I know the guilds also have a couple of really, really hot asian girls with voices that will make you cum - sadly they rarely talk.

there are people that speak english in tan do li ga. even if they don't, they know some broken english and can communicate well in chat. problem is if you are bad they literally bench you for 2 weeks at a time. imagine playing hungover at 10am doing illidan and making a couple mistakes when its on farm :] i got benched for a while.

I was looking around on blackrock, I knew it was the AEST preferred server, so looks like a lot of australian raid times which are way early for me.

However, tooling around on the oceanic server forums there's just an incredible amount of guild that raid on the time I need. Think it's the best I'll get, even if it's singapore or china/japanese players. Hell, played FFXI for years in a japanese linkshell, this would be cake.

You got any links to those two guilds you mentioned?
