I told my guild yesterday that there was a really good chance we wouldn't be raiding today. I hate being right sometimes.

Didn't they do that with several mods? SCT, Advanced Macros, some other ones... etc.

Blizz forced all mods to be open source with their new policy. You have to show your code. They can do what they want.

Pfft, 6000? I'm at 13000 baby! I wonder what kind of variable they used to represent the queue... Let's see if we can't overflow it!

Well, looks like tonight is a wash. They just updated again saying they ran into testing issues and are trying to get the realms up within 2-3 hours.

When's the last time they had downtime this long? Just curious

we will provide another update at approximately 6:00PM PDT. We are doing the best we can to have the realms available in the next two to three hours.

As someone who's worked in quality assurance before, I really have to wonder about Blizzard's testing and deployment process at times.

I know they dont have the same exact set up for all their servers... however with the sheer volume of cash they rake in they COULD have the exact same setup for every server. Then it would simply be a matter of perfecting the deployment on their internal test cluster and replicating that X times throughout the server farms.

Either their whole network structure is a spaghetti mess that has completely unpredictable behavior, or they are pretty darn bad at doing their job. I would have to imagine that its the former and not the latter, but this wont even remotely effect their bottom line so there is zero impetus to do this well.

They could have all the servers down for a few days and not see a single lost subscriber.
