It's actually the exact fucking opposite.

The raiding dungeons have been dumbed down enough that retards can run them. Thus, more guilds exist which are recruiting.

Blizzard did a pretty good job of catering to as many people as possible with Ulduar I think. The normal mode is clearable by PuGs who have their shit together, but completing the zone on Hard Mode is actually Hard. The idea of doing Yogg-Saron with 0 keepers scares me.

Or perhaps you could be talking about two different populations? You might think MC raiders as being old instead of say people who did Veeshan's Peak. To be fair, I haven't seen the trend he's speaking of, despite having given up on this expansion myself. Most of the players in my guild seem to enjoy Ulduar, although most are ready for the next big game.

I don't understand how Phase 3 is possible with 0 keepers. Thorim is the one who deals the final blow on the adds... right?

As I understand it, they just don't die without Thorim there. You can't kill them.

I think the current state of the game is more like vanilla where you have raids that bad players can actually complete. Molten Core was never very challenging and even before BWL there were multiple guilds per server that were at least doing some sort of raiding in there. however, in tbc this just wasn't true.

Even gruul and magtheridon presented enough of a challenge to limit the amount of people that could actually complete it. Hell, the heroics in TBC were harder than most of ulduar ez-mode.

I think their current design philosophy is actually the best one. Do I miss the days when only a select few guilds cleared content? perhaps, but my "e-peen" has become much smaller as I have matured and I don't really care about having loot that no one else has access to.

My only complaint is that they did not make the instance servers more robust in anticipation for the increase in players. Almost every tuesday night ulduar is unplayable during prime-time because server lag is atrocious. This was never an issue in TBC because only a few guilds could clear it. Now, with easier content as well as 10-man raids there are a ton of people using the instance servers nightly and its become a big issue for a lot of servers. I'm all for allowing "everyone" access to content.... but one should anticipate the impact of that philosophy.

Yeah, you'll just have to DPS the fuck out of YS before the mobs rape your tank(s).

The immortal guardians do vastly less damage when they have 1 hit point, but yeah you still do need to tank them all.

However, there's a reason you get the hard mode loot with 1 keeper up and the meta-achievement for the drake only requires One Light in the Darkness. They probably consider 0 keepers impossible or close to it.

Oh? 1 keeper is Hard Mode loot?
Is there seriously no reward for 0 keeper besides the prestige?

There's an achievement for it, AFAIK there's nothing else.

As a person whose raided everything in a guild thats always been some where in the top 100 US i can honestly say i am having a blast in Ulduar. The zone is wonderful, the lay out is amazing the fights are fun.

That being said, I have a problem with Hard modes especially in Ulduar. First off Hard modes is a lazy mans way of providing more content, its not even more content imo. The other problem i have is that they did hard modes in Ulduar wrong and are doing the easy modes wrong imo as well. Blizzard blatantly got butt hurt when people were beating the shit out of their hard modes week 1 and tuned shit to near impossible, while at the same time nerfing the shit out of the easiest fights in the instance.

I kinda figured there would be an extra hard mode item or something.

Hard mode isn't supposed to be more content, it's supposed to avoid the massive failure that was original TBC raiding where less than 5% of WoW ever even got to see the inside of a raid zone and less than 1% ever actually killed anything.

they've now set up a pretty good progression in the zone - most of normal mode is easier than the easiest hard modes, and there's a nice progression through the hard modes, too.
