Grand Canyon = Mountains.

Running up mountains/hills in any MMO is always the worst thing ever experienced.

That is all.

There's not much in the way of mountains save one particular sector. Mountains are typically leveraged as the borders so you won't be doing much rock climbing that you're so deathly afraid of.

I forgot to mention that there were several people playing Aion on the Kidorun server that were there due to the Fallen Earth servers being down and they were constantly ranting/raving about how awesome the beta was. I don't put a whole lot of stock in that but after reading the games features it sounds pretty sweet.

Compat won't work, as the downloader and patcher won't connect if running under win7 in any shape or form. The only way to run it on a win7 beta install is to copy the entire folder after it's patched into wherever your win7 program files is.

I'd imagine that it won't be that way for long, but after only a half of a day of reading, it seems there is no other work around.

I'll probably just reinstall my vista64 image and run off that if it keeps up past a week.

I saw screenshots on betaleaks half a year ago and lost all interest in the game for some reason. First time screenshots did that to me.

Windows 7 beta has been around since January, so they have ahd plenty of time to fix it...

I actually enjoyed the screenshots, at least on the official site, but seeing the game in motion in those videos made me feel embarrassed for the company. The models look like they're straight out of poser, and while the environment looks well enough the models (most likely all models) may not even match Vanguard's shit animations. Not that I expected any sort of quality in that regard, but all I could focus on during this youtube videos was how poor the art direction and implementation was.

And it's a shame, as I like their design philosophy they displayed in those videos.

I have to agree with the sentiment concerning their art direction. A lot of their ideas are fantastic, and the highly-flexible UI made me wonder why UI customization right now is so clunky and complicated, but the animation looked like it was straight out of Goldeneye for the N64; the models weren't exactly awe-inspiring either.

I signed up for the Beta anyways, since the game is offering a shake-up compared to what I'm accustomed with in MMOs, but I'm afraid without a major retooling of their art & animation their game won't find any sort of mass appeal.

The tutorial is kind of bland, the video interlude before you actually start playing in the newbie areas is pretty funny at the start.

I only managed to run around for a few minutes before I hit a crash to desktop, but I'm hesitant about how the crafting system works, taking 8-10 minutes to make a single shirt ;\

This game sounds like it's a Wasteland MMO, which would be pretty cool, imo.

*If* everything that they mentioned in those videos and on the wiki is actually in-game and working on release, I could look past the animations all day if their crafting, PvP and exploration was as fun as the videos made it sound.

Too many times I've seen promotional videos and features lists that look interesting and exciting only to be broken, removed at the last moment or pushed for a future release.

Screenshots don't seem so bad from what I've seen. Curious about the gameplay though.
