lol, I got 18 aa out of a lesson burn with a 75enc/wiz/rng/merc CLR and myself. Up to 124 aa right now after I just started them last night, wasted most of the day leading ST/NToV raid, only to be demoted by some kids who wanted all the power to themselves (funny story really).

Quick fyi to anyone looking to raid, Tranquility, pretty much lost everyone that made the guild worth a shit.

MMO Data is the new hotness for MMO subs rates. According to them, EQ1 had ~175K two years ago, so I'd guess somewhere in the region of 125K at the moment (or, to put it another way, three times as many as Vanguard has).

Heh that's what I was telling Ryhian (well not exactly that). I said something along the lines of "we don't want to join tranquility, we want to join the guild that eventually splits off from tranquility"

Got my enchanter to level 68 and about 15 AA's over the weekend. Would I be playing an Enchanter if I had it to do over again? Probably not... So I went into this with grand ideas of Charming mobs and then steamrolling over zones. At 68, I only have 2 spells over the level of 60: Magi Shield and Tash. The lack of spells on the server has pretty much everyone gimped at the moment. My contribution to groups is limited to Haste, Tash, and Slow. The sad thing is, even if I had my full lineup of spells, I am not sure I would be able to contribute much more than that in the current state of the game.

I kind of wish I had purchased SOD right upfront and made a Shaman. A shammy and a war merc should be able to wreck what ever they want in any zone where the mobs are slowable.

FYI... Wait to claim your Legacy Reward until level 65. If you do, you will get 3 pieces of Elaborate Defiant Armor.

Recommendations & Observations

1. Most Common Classes: Cleric, Wizard, Enchanter

2. Rarest Classes: Druid, Berserker, Paladin

3. Best DPS: Go either Wizard or Rogue. These are the first two classes I look for. The Wizard might be gimp depending on their spell situation, but I grouped with one last night that was doing 2x damage of the very best Rogue I have grouped with, so the potential is there.

4. Best Tank: Mercenary by far... Even competent players cannot begin to match the agro output of the Merc tanks. Their reaction time to add's is pretty much un-matched as well.

5. Best EXP: It's pretty obvious, but the Hot Zones are by far the best. Yes, they will be crowded, but it is still worth dealing with the bullshit. Places like BoT & Elemental Planes might sound appealing but ultimately they are a waste of time, and often times are just as crowded.

you will not understand the meaning of exp untill the first time you use charm inside The Mechamatic Guardian

i got half lv83 in 1 hour and half with no lesson or exp potions

too bad most enchs are cowards and fear charm

What should I buy if I want to play this? Last EQ expansion I bought was... Planes of Power I think?

Need something to hold my attention for 2 weeks and don't want to miss out on all the initial fun (even though I think I already did)

If you purchase the SoD expansion from sony for $40 it will include all the previous expansions I believe. I wouldnt say you need SoD right away until you can afford mercs, but its not bad to just grab it anyways.

Thank you bobyab for the info. Good stuff. I think I might go necro, but a zerker sounds very good as well.

I prefer groups but not sure I want to make a rogue/wiz, cleric, or tank. lol

Wizards are pretty sick dps, as are zerkers and rogues. Mages have been incredibly buffed from 71+. They can do about Wizard level dps at 85.

I too would put zerkers in line with rogues in terms of DPS, but as posted above are one of the rarest classes out there right now?

Is that odd to anyone else, or do most just realize that a zerker is crap without a good weapon, and also without poisons the obvious melee choice would be a rogue?

No. On live Rogues are fairly rare too. Decent rogues and zerkers that can do more damage than a Wizard/Mage are getting rarer and rarer. Most dps seems to be ranged now days since they can just pew pew from range and do about the same damage.

Even with a merc, Rogue soloing is like driving six-inch spikes into your eyes, slowly; so the class doesn't have nearly the replenishment rate of Wizards/Mages to compensate for player burn-out.

Berserkers are fun, but until you get a whole grip of AAs you're basically a warrior that can't tank, DPS-wise.

Also, if you don't raid, Melee DPS has traditionally been just plain terrible compared to playing a caster DPS. Yay needing weapons above your content teir in order to perform up to par in your content teir.

Are druids complete shit now, or can they actually heal worth a damn?

And what's the hardest class to find, but is also pretty needed for groups atm?

Also, is there a list of the server first titles anywhere?
