There needs to be more options for sure. I still think that combining the Progression server with Zek and FV rulesets would create the most interesting environment. Open PvP without no drop gear and contested raiding is just a glorious drama buffet of possibilities.

Combine Part 2 is going to win and it is just going to do much worse the second time around.

Come on, you must have experience with SoE back to at least when you signed on this board so nothing they can do by now must surely be able to make you think any less of them.

Where's the option for "None of the above - all these choices suck"?

It's like SOE is trying to kill the game. They had a great opportunity to bring a large number of people back to play. Even if those people just stayed a few months, at least it would have been income. Instead, their lazy-ass no-imagination choices will do nothing for the sub rate. Just stupid.

How exactly are they trying to kill the game by introducing a new server?

I'm lost here. Just because you don't like the choices doesn't mean they are trying to kill the game. It sounds like the same old thing of "OMG SOE HATES WIZARDS" type of arguments.

SoE is making many in-game decisions that lead more credibility to them wanting to either kill off the game way moreso than a decision about a new server.

Progression/FV/Sullon ruleset would kick ass...too bad it'd probably end up just like SZ and be way lopsided.

Clarification from the EQplayers site:

Server Rule Set Descriptions

1. Progression Server

* These servers do not have all expansions active on them initially. Instead, each expansion is unlocked through the actions of the players.

2. PvP Server

* On this server, everyone has the ability to attack each other subject to a 4 level limit. For instance, a level 45 person may attack or be attacked by anyone from level 41 through 49. For more information, click here.

3. Standard Server

* Player vs Environment, a player character plays against the game world and non-player characters, as opposed to against other players.

4. Role Play Server

* Player vs Environment, a player character plays against the game world and non-player characters, as opposed to against other players. The main differences between this type of server and a standard server are that players are only allowed 2 character slots and some items that are NOT tradable on standard servers are tradable on this server. For more information on this type of server, click here.

5. 51/50 Server

* Players on this server will start at level 51 with 50 alternate advancement points. The rules of this server are the same as a Standard Server.

6. Any of the Above

Regardless of which option is chosen, character transfers will be limited or not permitted at all to/from the server when it opens. After the server has been open for some time, we may look into changing that rule.

They have made a business decision to not expand the game when they had the opportunity to do so. They are aiming to maintain the status quo. A 10-year old game bleeding subs to newer games can not afford to maintain the status quo.

I think the bleeding subs point happened about four years ago. Anyone left playing EQ will likely keep playing EQ. The poll choices are pretty weak though.

You don't get it! This really could have turned it around for EQ...

Any variation of a progression server would be a phenomenal hit.

Progression + pvp

Progression + FV rules

Progression + etc.

How do they manage to drop the ball every time? In ten years, SOE still refuses to listen to there player base.
