| It would be awesome to go through the Mac server and wake the Sleeper as a 10th Anniversery present to Sony. To me, that was the best part of the game. Going through EQ, Kunark, gearing up via NToV. Even PoP was fun to progress through. You could NToV up, wake the Sleeper, and then complete Time. Easily two of my favorite EQ experiences. From what I understand, the Mac server is the only server that truly has the community preserved. However, you'll never have that small, unified community trying to survive the game. People sitting behind their computers, reading Allakahzam print outs or on their other monitor, just trying to make it. It was fun and we did it together. At one time, I believe I knew nearly every person on Lanys and regardless if it was great times or drama at it's highest it was something like was more like a big family of cousins or siblings. Really the community EQ created deserves far more credit than the game itself. Last edited by Muligan; 03-18-2009 at 11:35 AM.. |

| Damn straight Muligan. Community is almost non existant in any MMO outside the guilds nowadays.

| Can't say it was due to it being released at a special time though. When combine hit, the community feeling was back, I knew half of the server by name and guilds meant something at least for the few months I stayed there. To me, it's amazing that no other game has managed to recreate that..

| Wasn't that simple. The internet wasn't that widespread and known about yet. People connected for a thousand reasons that built a strong community, and for various reasons it will never happen again. I think the dozens of things that created the community, each integral, is pretty amazing.

Top level SoF Group Armor = 7 different pieces (actually more because you can change the focus on bracers for some classes) x 5 different types (Fire, Air, Earth, Ice, Prismatic) x 16 classes = 560 different items. SoD Armor = 7 different pieces (+bracer variants) x 9 different types (Blue and Orange Essences for each of 3 tiers) x 16 classes x 2 (group and raid) = 2016 different items Now in any of these cases a Dev might create the item and upload it to Lucy to fill in a database gap without the item ever being discovered by a player. Someone at some point would make a Small Grey Fine Steel Breastplate, Intense Windsilk Hat or Inflicted Flameblaze Silk Sandals out of boredom and to update Lucy but players have no way of knowing which items haven't been discovered yet. The list of undiscovered lootable items is 0 or really close, maybe an ultra rare spawn has an ultra rare drop and King Xorbb's Whisker has never been looted on any server. The list of uncompleted quests that might actually work and have an item reward attached might amount to a dozen or two. In the last Dev Chat Prathun said the Glowing Black Stone was for a Stonebrunt quest. Any number of GM only items might count as existing and undiscovered. The bulk of that 3000 is players not making specific tradeskill type combines to officially discover every variant and Devs have tainted Lucy so there is no means to figure out what items aren't yet discovered. | |

| EQ dev responded to my guildmate: From: Nodyin-Dev To: S***** Date: 03/17/2009 18:27:56 Subject: Hard timelocks If a progression server is done again the 1 thing I can almost guarantee will happen will be additional content locks being put in place to prevent "too early" content from ruining progression. There are a few prime offenders that speeded up progression dramatically. Beyond that I can't say if we'd do anything else. |

| Why would you do this? Those guys are never getting anymore content - you would remove 4 major mobs from the game permanently for a server that isn't getting any more mobs. Uncool.

| A Bearded Gnome | I think it's more telling they could just copy that server and make a new one for windows users. They have all the old zone files but choose not to put up a classic server.
